The hiring organization is a growing hospitality services provider located in Long Beach, California, dedicated to delivering exceptional culinary and catering experiences. The company is currently looking to fill the position of Operations General Manager (GM) based fully on-site at their Long Beach location. This is a full-time role offering a competitive salary ranging from $85,000 to $95,000 annually with additional bonus potential. The Operations GM will play a pivotal role in overseeing the day-to-day operational functions of the company’s culinary and hospitality services, reporting directly to the Regional Director and District Manager. This position requires a dynamic leader with extensive experience in hands-on culinary operations and food and beverage management, capable of driving operational excellence, financial performance, and team leadership.

In this comprehensive leadership role, the Operations GM will be responsible for ensuring that all kitchen and catering services are delivered with the highest standards of quality and accuracy. The successful candidate will supervise and train staff, oversee local client engagements and facility management, and ensure compliance with government regulations and corporate policies. They will also manage payroll, scheduling, performance reviews, training, hiring, and discipline, supporting the District Manager and various departments such as Payroll, HR, and Finance. A key responsibility includes maximizing the kitchen's financial performance by managing food costs, labor, and operational budgets while adhering to corporate guidelines and best practices.

The Operations GM will manage all facets of food safety and regulatory compliance, including HACCP standards and health and safety regulations within their market. They will also be tasked with supporting marketing initiatives, managing client relationships, executing local sales promotions, and maintaining company assets with arranging repairs and contracts as needed. Reporting requirements such as operational performance reports, timesheets, and expense reports must be completed accurately and submitted in a timely manner. This role requires flexibility with scheduling that includes weekends, holidays, and occasional travel, and a valid driver’s license with a clean record is mandatory.

Job Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on culinary operations experience
  • Proven management experience in food and beverage operations
  • Valid driver’s license with clean driving history
  • Ability to work full-time on-site in Long Beach, California
  • Flexible availability including weekends, holidays, and about 10% travel
  • Ability to manage budgets, payroll, scheduling, and performance documentation
  • Willingness to undergo background checks and drug screening

Job Qualifications

  • 5+ years in hands-on culinary operations with safe food handling certificate preferred
  • 5+ years in food and beverage operations management including staff supervision, client engagement, inventory management, and process implementation
  • Strong experience in food purchasing, ordering, inventory control and setting par levels
  • Basic knowledge of finance, accounting principles, and department of health regulations
  • Ability to schedule and manage profit and loss, labor and food costs within budget
  • Ability to manage fulfillment teams and vehicle fleet including off-site employee management
  • Multi-lingual abilities considered a plus
  • Flexible work schedule including weekends, holidays, and occasional travel
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record

Job Duties

  • Support regional director operational directives for kitchen accuracy, office administration, personnel management, client relations, facility and capital asset oversight, government compliance and corporate requirements
  • Support quality and execution of catering operations including supervising and training staff
  • Oversee the quality and accuracy of food preparation and concierge services
  • Assist district manager in operational execution of culinary events and regional menu coordination
  • Lead staff training, development and payroll approval processes
  • Collaborate with district manager, payroll department, HR and finance for payroll, scheduling, performance reviews, hiring, discipline and paperwork
  • Manage kitchen financial performance to meet budgets and corporate standards
  • Enforce HACCP and food safety, maintain customer satisfaction and communication
  • Assist regional director in sales promotions, client visits, inventory, purchasing and receiving policies
  • Manage cleaning, maintenance, repairs and contracts for company assets
  • Investigate and resolve food and service complaints
  • Manage compliance with HACCP, health and safety regulations
  • Support communication, implementation and enforcement of corporate policies
  • Assist in sales and marketing initiatives
  • Maintain client relationships
  • Manage and enforce Standard Operating Procedures
  • Submit timesheets, performance reports and expense reports timely
  • Oversee and audit vehicle maintenance logs and costs
