Job Description
KFC is one of the world’s largest and most recognized fast-food restaurant brands, renowned for its delicious fried chicken and exceptional customer service. With a global presence spanning multiple countries, KFC has become a trusted name for quick, tasty meals served in a welcoming environment. The restaurant operates under a model of franchising, where independently owned and operated franchises uphold the KFC legacy by delivering consistent quality and service tailored to their local markets. Each KFC restaurant functions as a vital part of the brand’s extensive family, committed to upholding the highest standards of food safety, cleanliness, and customer satisfaction.
The role of the Restaurant General Manager (RGM) at KFC is pivotal in driving the success of the restaurant and leading the team towards achieving and exceeding business goals. As the number one leader on-site, the RGM holds full ownership of the store’s success metrics, managing daily operations, employee performance, and guest experiences. This position demands a hands-on approach where leadership is demonstrated through setting examples with high standards in customer service, food quality, and facility hygiene.
The RGM’s responsibilities include fostering a positive, family-like environment among the KFC team members, ensuring open and effective communication of goals, promotions, and updates. Leadership also extends to mentoring and training new and existing team members, building a cohesive group that upholds the values and standards of the brand. This role requires close collaboration with other Restaurant General Managers and Area Leaders to share best practices and propel business growth.
Operational accountability is a critical aspect of this position, with duties ranging from managing payroll, maintaining accurate records of financial and production activities, ensuring compliance with company policies and safety regulations, to efficient scheduling that balances customer service needs with cost-effectiveness. RGMs must be adept at administrative tasks such as onboarding new hires, processing employee changes, and adhering to human resources documentation requirements.
Success in this role requires a leader who is goal-oriented, business-minded, and takes pride in delivering excellent guest experiences. The ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment while maintaining punctuality, enthusiasm, and a positive attitude is essential. Physical requirements include the capability to perform some heavy lifting, extended periods of standing, and the ability to operate safely around high-temperature cooking equipment.
This position offers the opportunity to lead a dedicated team within the structure of a globally recognized brand while being supported by the close-knit KFC family. The Restaurant General Manager holds a key leadership role that directly influences the customer journey, employee satisfaction, and overall profitability of the restaurant. While the post is within a franchise-operated restaurant, the franchisee acts as the employer, responsible for all employment decisions and support. This ensures local management is fully invested in the success and development of the team and restaurant operations, providing a rewarding and engaging leadership experience at the front lines of the food service industry.
