Job Description
BURGER KING is a globally recognized fast-food restaurant chain best known as the original HOME OF THE WHOPPER. Founded in 1954, BURGER KING has grown to become the second largest fast food hamburger chain in the world. The brand is celebrated for its commitment to premium ingredients, signature recipes, and family-friendly dining experiences that have resonated with millions of guests for over five decades. With more than 11 million guests visiting BURGER KING restaurants daily worldwide, the company prides itself on delivering high-quality, great-tasting, and affordable food in a clean and welcoming environment. BURGER KING's expansive global presence highlights its dedication to maintaining strong operational standards and exceptional guest service across all its locations.
The role of the Restaurant General Manager (RGM) at BURGER KING is a pivotal leadership position responsible for driving the profitability, guest satisfaction, team development, and overall efficient operations of a single restaurant location. Reporting directly to the District Manager, the RGM supervises a team consisting of an Assistant Manager, Hourly Shift Coordinators, and Crew Members, typically managing between 20 to 45 employees. This full-time or part-time opportunity offers a dynamic work environment centered on continuous improvement and operational excellence.
The RGM holds primary accountability for the restaurant's profit and loss (P&L) performance, actively managing key financial indicators to ensure desired outcomes are met. This includes reviewing major P&L lines, making strategic adjustments, and implementing measures that drive sales growth. An essential aspect of this role is fostering proactive guest service through motivational leadership, ensuring team members deliver accurate, friendly, and fast service in a clean and inviting facility. The RGM is also responsible for managing the guest experience, promptly responding to guest issues, and leveraging feedback systems to identify root causes and develop corrective action plans that enhance satisfaction.
In addition to guest relations, the RGM plays a critical role in people management. This involves leading recruitment and selection efforts to build a capable and effective team, onboarding new crew members through comprehensive training and certification processes, and motivating staff with ongoing recognition programs. Providing consistent coaching and constructive feedback to Crew Members, Shift Coordinators, and Assistant Managers is essential to boost team capabilities and overall restaurant performance.
Operational management is another key responsibility, requiring the RGM to optimize labor through effective scheduling and manager staffing while ensuring compliance with government regulations, employment laws, and company policies. Maintaining the restaurant’s operational and brand standards is paramount to uphold BURGER KING's reputation. Additionally, the RGM may perform duties of other management roles when necessary to support restaurant functions effectively.
This role demands strong leadership, solid knowledge of P&L management, a deep understanding of guest service principles, and the ability to prioritize tasks to meet deadlines efficiently. The RGM must be available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required to ensure seamless restaurant operations. BURGER KING is an equal opportunity employer encouraging all qualified candidates to apply, offering a career path in a globally respected brand with competitive benefits including paid time off, health insurance, dental insurance, vision insurance, and life insurance.
