Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Previous experience in food preparation or a culinary environment desirable
  • Knowledge of food safety, sanitation and proper food handling procedures
  • Ability to operate commercial kitchen equipment safely
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to maintain a professional appearance and demeanor
  • Basic math skills for measuring and portion control
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and recipes

Job Duties

  • Prepare food of consistent quality following recipe cards and production and portion standards per check from servers
  • Start food items that are prepared ahead of time without over-preparing estimated needs
  • Date all food containers and rotate as per PMHS standards ensuring perishables are kept at proper temperatures
  • Check pars for shift use, determine necessary preparation, freezer pull and line set-up
  • Note any out-of-stock items or possible shortages and assist in keeping buffet stock if applicable
  • Return all unused food items to designated storage areas covering and dating perishables
  • Assist in food cost control efforts to reduce waste, loss and usage per PMHS standards
  • Operate, maintain and properly clean kitchen equipment including deep fryer, broiler, stove, steamer, food processor, mixer, slicer, oven steam table, tilt kettle, waffle iron and flat top grill
  • Comply with attendance rules and be reliably available to work on a regular basis
  • Perform additional job-related duties as assigned by supervisor
