Job Description

El Super #18 is a vibrant and essential supermarket located in the heart of Highland Park, Los Angeles, California. This supermarket has proudly served its community for over 25 years, specializing in delivering exceptional value and a wide variety of products at the lowest possible prices. As part of the larger Chedraui USA group, El Super #18 is committed to providing an inclusive and authentic shopping experience for a diverse clientele by offering an extensive selection of grocery products, many sourced from Latin America, along with in-house service departments and high-quality perishable items. The store's longstanding dedication to quality, affordability, and community has made it the chosen supermarket for countless customers who appreciate authenticity, excellent customer service, and fresh products.

As a company grounded in family values and a devotion to food, El Super #18 prides itself not only on its product assortment but also on its vibrant team. The store operations team is a vital part of this tradition and is currently looking to welcome a new Restaurant Clerk to their ranks. This role offers a starting pay of $18.47 per hour, reflecting the store's commitment to rewarding hard work and dedication.

The Restaurant Clerk at El Super #18 primarily functions as a key customer service representative, maintaining direct interaction with a diverse customer base. This role involves assisting with the preparation of grilled and hot food items, ensuring each dish is prepared and presented according to strict company standards. Beyond food preparation, the Restaurant Clerk maintains a clean, organized, and inviting restaurant environment that aligns with the store's quality and safety standards. Flexibility is essential as the position requires the ability to work varied hours, including nights and weekends.

Candidates for this role are expected to have basic literacy skills to read and comprehend product labels, pricing codes, shelf tags, memos, and short correspondence. They should be capable of writing simple correspondence and effectively communicating in one-on-one and small group settings with customers, clients, and coworkers. The role also demands a practical application of common sense when following detailed but straightforward instructions to complete tasks.

Physical capability is important; the Restaurant Clerk must be able to regularly lift and move up to 25 pounds, frequently up to 45 pounds, and occasionally up to 60 pounds. Food safety is paramount, so possession of a Food Handler Card or an equivalent certification is mandatory due to the nature of food preparation, handling, and serving duties involved in this position.

The company encourages candidates to bring additional skills, such as basic PC and Outlook proficiency and possibly a Retail Management Certificate, which would be considered an asset, though not a requirement.

El Super #18 offers a supportive work environment that provides numerous benefits, including a 401(k) retirement savings plan, continuing education benefits, and more. This opportunity is ideal for individuals who are passionate about food, committed to excellent customer service, and eager to contribute positively to their community in a meaningful way.

Join El Super #18 and become part of a team that values authenticity, community service, personal growth, and above all, a love and respect for food and people. Your success story can start here with a company that stands behind its employees and customers alike, providing a stable and rewarding employment experience in a thriving, community-centered supermarket.
