Established as a brand builder, it has developed a rich history of uniting the world’s top luxury designers with discerning clientele, fostering a loyal following across its 36 stores, digital platforms, and remote selling channels. Part of Saks Global’s portfolio, Neiman Marcus represents a world-class luxury retailer dedicated to creating memorable moments through initiatives such as the Neiman Marcus Awards, Fantasy Gifts, seasonal campaigns, and innovative "Retail-tainment" experiences, all designed to enhance the customer journey.
The role of Restaurant Manager / Chef at Neiman Marcus in Palo Alto, California, is vital to maintaining the exceptional standard of the brand’s restaurant services. This onsite position comes with a competitive salary range between $70,915 and $88,644. The Restaurant Manager / Chef will be responsible for promoting the excellence of the Neiman Marcus store by building and leading a professional team focused on delivering top-tier guest experiences through exceptional culinary quality and outstanding customer service. This includes overseeing day-to-day restaurant operations, managing catering and special events, and spearheading key initiatives that elevate the dining experience.
The successful candidate will monitor and document daily food inventories to reduce waste, ensure adherence to health and sanitation standards, and maintain cleanliness and quality throughout all dining rooms and kitchens. They will be expected to have sufficient kitchen skills to fill in as needed, oversee plating for quality consistency, and work closely with front-of-house waitstaff to support smooth kitchen operations. Managing inventory, batch invoices, monthly forecasts, and food and supply orders in line with corporate contracts will be essential tasks.
Moreover, the Restaurant Manager / Chef will develop, update, and execute daily specials, soups, and menu items while overseeing employee training, coaching, and counseling in partnership with Human Resources. The role demands strong leadership qualities, including the ability to motivate teams, resolve conflicts, and manage the scheduled workflow in a dynamic retail environment. Communication with the restaurant management team, culinary staff, vendors, and other department managers is critical to ensure a seamless operational flow.
The position also involves planning, supporting, or executing special promotions and events that reflect the Neiman Marcus brand’s luxury standards and customer expectations. A fundamental part of the role is to maintain a professional and courteous atmosphere in the kitchen and dining areas, ensuring all associates uphold the brand’s policies and provide an exceptional customer experience.
This opportunity offers the chance to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment during a period of growth and transformation at Neiman Marcus. There are rewarding career advancement opportunities within the largest multi-brand luxury retailer, spanning retail, distribution, digital, and corporate sectors. Full-time employees are offered a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as an attractive employee discount. Candidates must be able to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, and have the physical capability to perform job duties involving standing, bending, climbing stairs, and lifting up to 35 pounds.
In summary, the Restaurant Manager / Chef at Neiman Marcus will play a crucial role in driving restaurant success through high-quality food preparation, excellent service standards, team leadership, and operational management. This role is designed for a professional with a track record of business results, strong communication and interpersonal skills, and a deep commitment to the luxury retail hospitality experience.
