The Restaurant Chef role at South Seas Beach House Restaurant is a critical leadership position responsible for overseeing the culinary operations and ensuring outstanding food quality, consistency, presentation, and guest satisfaction. This role functions as the day-to-day culinary leader during assigned shifts, working closely with the Executive Chef and culinary leadership to manage kitchen staff, maintain food safety standards, support menu execution, and drive operational excellence. The Restaurant Chef is a hands-on leader who cultivates a positive, collaborative kitchen environment, mentors team members, and upholds the resort’s high culinary standards.

This position requires the ability to lead kitchen production and workflow efficiently and creatively, ensuring that every dish reflects the South Seas culinary brand and delights guests. Responsibilities include supervising line cooks and prep cooks, managing inventory and food costs, conducting quality inspections, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations such as ServSafe and HACCP standards, and actively participating in hiring, training, scheduling, and performance management of culinary staff. The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of three years’ culinary leadership experience in high-volume restaurants, resorts, or hotels, with demonstrated skills in team development, food preparation techniques, and kitchen operations.

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of culinary leadership experience in a high-volume restaurant resort or hotel
  • Previous experience as a Sous Chef Restaurant Chef or Kitchen Manager preferred
  • Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques sanitation inventory and kitchen operations
  • Experience supervising and developing culinary teams
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced guest-focused environment
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Flexible schedule including evenings weekends and holidays

Job Duties

  • Lead daily kitchen operations for the Beach House Restaurant ensuring exceptional food quality presentation consistency and execution
  • Supervise and mentor line cooks prep cooks and culinary support staff during assigned shifts
  • Act as the culinary leader in the absence of the Executive Chef
  • Foster a positive collaborative and high-performing kitchen culture
  • Coach train and develop culinary team members while reinforcing South Seas service and culinary standards
  • Participate in hiring onboarding scheduling performance management and coaching of culinary employees
  • Ensure all menu items are prepared according to established recipes specifications and presentation standards
