Job Requirements

  • Associate's degree or equivalent
  • Minimum three years related experience and/or training
  • Culinary arts diploma preferred
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules and procedure manuals
  • Ability to write reports and correspondence
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups
  • Ability to calculate figures and apply algebra and geometry
  • Ability to apply common sense to instructions
  • Proficient in MS Office
  • ServSafe certification or ability to obtain upon hire
  • Ability to visually inspect and taste food
  • Fluent in English
  • Ability to read and follow recipes
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Good organizational and communication skills

Job Qualifications

  • Associate's degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school
  • Three years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Culinary arts diploma preferred
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups
  • Ability to calculate figures and apply basic algebra and geometry
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions
  • Proficient in MS Office
  • ServSafe Certification or ability to obtain upon hire
  • Ability to visually inspect and taste food preparation
  • Fluent in English both oral and written
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills

Job Duties

  • Provides outstanding service to members and guests in a professional and courteous manner
  • Assists in meal planning, labor costs, equipment and supply requirements for the department
  • Maintains accountability for cost, utilization, and performance of employees and equipment
  • Performs all methods of cookery, portion control, and garnishes all dishes according to company standards
  • Provides ongoing training to junior sous chefs, line cooks, buffet stewards, and buffet attendants
  • Assumes responsibility as kitchen supervisor during meal periods including banquets in absence of executive sous chef or executive chef
  • Maintains preventative maintenance procedures and records for kitchen equipment
  • Ensures proper handling and storage of all product
  • Leads by example to ensure professionalism and high morale among kitchen staff
  • Works with executive sous chef/executive chef to develop menus for club and private functions
  • Operates within all established guidelines, policies, standards, and constraints set by the club and food and beverage operation
  • Assists with setup and breakdown of events including ice displays
