We currently have an opening for a Bartender to join our hotel bar team. The role of Bartender at AC Element Phoenix Norterra goes beyond simply mixing drinks; it involves being an integral part of the guest experience by ensuring excellent service, maintaining the bar's efficient operation, and adhering to all regulatory requirements related to alcohol service. The Bartender is responsible for setting up and stocking the bar accurately based on daily function projections, preparing fresh garnishes and ingredients, and engaging with guests in a courteous and friendly manner. This position demands a professional appearance, effective communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues to maintain smooth operations. Bartenders must have a good understanding of drink recipes, portion control, and the operation of point of sale systems to accurately manage guest orders and cash transactions.
The successful candidate will be expected to follow all state, federal, and corporate rules concerning the serving of alcoholic beverages, supporting a safe and responsible drinking environment. Attention to detail in managing stock, handling payments, and securing the bar at closing time is essential. This role also involves physical demands such as standing for long periods and performing manual tasks like cutting garnishes and handling bar equipment. Job Requirements
- A minimum of 1 year of professional bartending experience
- Basic knowledge of food and beverage preparation and alcoholic beverage service
- Basic mathematical skills to operate a cash register and handle cash transactions
- Sufficient manual dexterity to prepare garnishes and mix drinks
- Ability to operate a keyboard and point of sale procedures
- Ability to stand and work in confined spaces for long periods
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates and customers
- Maintain a professional appearance and manner
- Can communicate well with guests
- Willingness to help co-workers and be a team player
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous bartending experience of at least 1 year
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Knowledge of standard beverage recipes and portion control
- Experience using point of sale systems
- Ability to comply with state and corporate alcohol serving regulations
- Ability to work flexible schedules including evenings and weekends
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
Job Duties
- Maintains proper and adequate set-up of the bar on a daily basis including requisitioning and stocking of all essentials
- Responsible for maintaining stock, cutting, and storing of fresh fruit and vegetable garnishes, juices, and perishables daily
- Greets guests in a courteous and friendly manner, promotes and documents orders for drinks
- Mixes, garnishes and presents drinks using standard recipes and practicing portion control
- Abides by all state, federal and corporate requirements pertaining to serving alcoholic beverages
- Inputs orders into a register at the point of sale and creates checks for guests to maintain accountability
- Receives cash from guests, handles transactions accurately, and balances all moneys
- Locks up and stores all beverage, food and other equipment items, deposits cash drops and secures bank
- Complies with attendance rules and works regularly
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned
