The Room Service Server plays a crucial role in this hospitality setting by ensuring that guests who choose room dining receive friendly, courteous, and efficient service. This position reports to the Restaurant/Food and Beverage Manager and is classified as non-exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). The primary responsibility of the Room Service Server is to deliver food and beverage orders promptly and accurately to guest rooms, aiming to meet and exceed service expectations while maintaining professional interaction with guests. The server must be familiar with the hotel menu, properly set up trays including utensils and condiments, follow prescribed service standards for alcohol when applicable, and adhere to all operational procedures such as cashiering and room charge protocols.
In addition to order delivery, the Room Service Server is responsible for supporting restaurant operations by clearing and resetting tables, maintaining cleanliness in service areas, and restocking supplies. This role also involves handling physical tasks such as moving carts and carrying trays of dishes within the hotel premises. Communication with guests is key, including follow-up calls post-service to ensure satisfaction. The ability to work varied shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays is necessary. Job Duties
- promptly clear and reset used tables
- remove dirty stock to dish area and breakdown trays
- take soiled linen to designated area or housekeeping department for laundering
- stock and maintain service stations with proper supplies before, during and after each shift
- set up and refill coffee-to-go station in the lobby and keep it replenished as needed
- assist servers in pre-bussing tables and delivery of food orders
- assist in general cleaning and maintenance of the restaurant
- set up orders accurately and deliver to rooms within approximately 20-30 minutes
- follow proper tray setup including silverware, napkins, condiments, beverages and special requests
- check complete food order for accuracy
- provide courteous service and professional phone manners
- deliver orders following hotel delivery standards
- place call to guest 5-10 minutes after meal delivery to check for satisfaction
- know and follow cashier and room charge procedures
- develop knowledge of service standards for beer, liquor and wine including compliance with alcohol awareness laws
- clean and restock room service area and complete required side work
- promptly retrieve solid dishes from hallways and guest rooms
- perform additional duties as required
