The role available at Neiman Marcus is the Restaurant Server Assistant, a vital position within their dining service team that ensures guests enjoy the highest standard of food and beverage service, consistent with the company's luxury brand reputation. This position is based onsite in Palo Alto and offers a competitive hourly wage range from $19.61 to $24.51, depending on experience and location factors.

As a Restaurant Server Assistant, you will be integral in maintaining the setup and flow in the dining area. Responsibilities include assisting with a variety of service needs such as clearing and resetting tables, delivering food and beverages promptly, managing bus stations, and ensuring that the dining room is well-stocked with necessary items like glassware, flatware, linens, coffee, iced tea, and ice. This role demands exceptional attention to cleanliness, hygiene standards, and presentation, reflecting the high expectations of the Neiman Marcus clientele.

The position requires learning the layout of the dining room, understanding table sections, and assisting both kitchen and waitstaff teams with any immediate service requirements, including restocking items and handling "to go" orders. The Restaurant Server Assistant actively participates in daily briefings and executes assigned duties collaboratively under supervision.

Candidates should be prepared for physical tasks, including lifting up to 35 pounds and moving furniture such as tables and chairs. The role is dynamic, requiring flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays given the customer demand and business needs.

Job Duties

  • Focuses on table maintenance in the dining room, including clearing and re-setting tables
  • delivers popovers, butter, and pours water
  • delivers food and beverage to guests as indicated by kitchen tickets
  • maintains the bus station and beverage areas
  • learns table numbers and sections in the dining area
  • assists kitchen staff and service staff with any service needs, such as additional customer requests, restocking plates, bagging 'to go' orders, setting up expediter station
  • assists waitstaff with any service needs, refilling beverages and running food from the kitchen to the dining room as needed
  • sets up the dining room with key items, including but not limited to coffee, iced tea, and ice
  • maintains dining room by restocking glasses, flatware, and linens
  • participates in daily pre-shift meeting
  • executes pre-shift, post-shift, and daily and weekly duties as assigned by supervisor
  • lifts and moves objects such as tables, chairs, and highchairs
  • cleans and maintains restaurant and workstation
  • maintains the highest level of hygiene standards, including clean and pressed uniform and professionally styled hair and nails
  • reports to work area dressed appropriately and prepared to work with necessary supplies and equipment
