Within each Eataly location, multiple full-service, sit-down restaurants serve a variety of Italian dishes made with the highest quality seasonal ingredients. The menu spans a broad range of classic offerings such as meat dishes, seafood, pasta, pizza, and street food, ensuring a diverse and satisfying experience for every guest. To maintain excellence and uphold the brand’s esteemed reputation, Eataly is seeking a Restaurant Assistant General Manager who will play a critical role in overseeing the day-to-day operations of one or more restaurants within a location. Reporting directly to the General Manager of Restaurants, the Assistant GM is responsible for maximizing profitability while adhering to Eataly's mission, values, policies, and stringent quality and guest experience standards.

The role demands a hands-on leader who actively works on the floor, ensuring smooth operations and excellent customer service. The Assistant GM will lead the restaurant team by hiring, training, motivating, evaluating, and when necessary, terminating personnel. Providing on-the-spot coaching and feedback is essential to facilitate team members' professional growth and maintain high morale. Inventory management and coordination across departments to plan special events and communicate important updates form a crucial part of the role. The Assistant GM also handles documentation, investigation, and resolution of employee or guest incidents, promoting a safe and welcoming environment for all.

Job Requirements

  • availability to work a flexible schedule often including evenings weekends and holidays
  • ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • ability to exert well-paced mobility for up to 8 hours including standing walking bending and squatting

Job Qualifications

  • bachelor's degree or associate degree
  • 2+ years of experience managing a large restaurant staff to accomplish sales and guest service goals
  • demonstrated problem-solving organizational analytical and business management skills
  • excellent communication leadership and team-building skills
  • advanced proficiency in microsoft office
  • experience with italian cuisine and wine highly preferred

Job Duties

  • oversees the operations of the restaurant working to maximize profitability while upholding the company's mission values policies quality and guest experience standards
  • works the floor actively applying a hands-on approach unafraid to get hands dirty
  • hires assigns trains motivates evaluates and terminates team members as necessary
  • provides in-the-moment coaching and feedback to team members actively facilitating their growth
  • manages inventory levels and replenishes goods and operating materials
  • collaborates interdepartmentally and with corporate to plan activities special events share information etc
  • documents investigates and resolves employee and guest incidents
  • maintains a high level of hospitality towards guests as well as within the team
  • performs other duties as required or assigned
