Job Description

Salumeria IL Corso is a charming and wine-focused Italian restaurant located on NW Glisan Street in Portland, Oregon. Known for its dedication to authentic Italian cuisine and exceptional wine offerings, Salumeria IL Corso prides itself on fostering a warm, inviting atmosphere for both guests and staff alike. Complementing the restaurant is La Bottega d'IL Corso, a newly launched, integrated wine retail shop and tasting experience that resides within the restaurant space. This innovative dual concept promises to offer a unique blend of fine dining and curated wine retail under one roof, positioning the establishment as a standout destination for food and wine enthusiasts in Portland.

The team at Salumeria IL Corso is small but passionate, driven by a commitment to excellence and a desire to build something truly special. As the restaurant evolves with the introduction of La Bottega d'IL Corso, it seeks a dedicated professional ready to contribute meaningfully to this exciting growth phase. The environment is owner-operated, promoting collaboration, open communication, and the opportunity for team members to make a tangible impact on the direction and culture of the business.

The Restaurant and Bar Manager role is pivotal in overseeing the front-of-house operations across both Salumeria IL Corso and La Bottega d'IL Corso. This position is highly visible and active, requiring the manager to be present on the floor throughout service to lead by example, engage with guests, and uphold service standards that reflect Italian hospitality's warmth and sophistication. The ideal candidate will be wine-savvy with extensive knowledge of French and Italian wines, bringing a genuine passion for hospitality and an ability to curate memorable guest experiences.

This role reports directly to the owner and involves significant collaboration on staffing, operational decisions, and service quality improvements. It is not a desk job; rather, it demands a hands-on leadership style characterized by active participation during service. The manager will also support the wine retail side of operations, including staff education and customer engagement, ensuring a seamless integration between restaurant service and wine retail experiences.

Working Tuesday through Saturday, the position offers a competitive salary commensurate with experience, the chance to grow alongside an evolving dual-concept establishment, and direct access to an exceptional wine program. The schedule provides a balanced work-life rhythm that respects personal time while allowing for active involvement in a dynamic hospitality environment.

Overall, this role presents an exciting opportunity for a seasoned hospitality professional who thrives on floor leadership, values teamwork, and is eager to be part of a unique and evolving culinary and wine destination in Portland. Successful candidates will find a supportive, owner-operated workplace where their expertise and passion for service and wine are appreciated and rewarded.
