The role available at Geisinger is for a full-time Respiratory Therapist (RRT) and Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT). The position includes a $15,000 hiring incentive for eligible candidates and up to $5.50 per hour shift differentials for evening, night, and weekend shifts, reflecting the organization’s commitment to recognizing the valuable contributions of its staff. Responsibilities also include managing both conventional and high-frequency mechanical ventilators, executing airway management in emergency situations, performing routine therapeutic procedures such as aerosolized medication delivery and secretion management, and supporting the medical team during advanced procedures like fiberoptic bronchoscopy. The therapist is expected to maintain strict adherence to institutional and national standards of care and confidentiality regulations including HIPAA. Education of patients and families about disease management is a key component of the role, which requires excellent communication skills and a compassionate approach.

Geisinger provides a Respiratory Therapy Residency Program designed for new graduates with less than one year of acute care experience, emphasizing critical thinking, interprofessional collaboration, and expanding clinical knowledge to build confidence and competence in the first year of practice. Certifications such as ACLS, BLS, NRP, and PALS are required and provided by the organization.
