The Residential Manager (RM) position at Her Song is a vital leadership role responsible for overseeing and implementing residential care programming aligned with the organization’s strategic objectives. Reporting directly to the National Residential Director, the RM ensures that all aspects of day-to-day residential operations and programming meet excellent standards of trauma-responsive care. This role encompasses managing programming content and delivery, coordinating mental health support, supervising residential staff, and handling managerial responsibilities such as budgeting and reporting. The RM plays a key role in advancing best practices in survivor care by collaborating with national partners and integrating learning from diverse resources to continuously enhance program quality.
In this capacity, the Residential Manager initiates and governs the development of programming goals that respond directly to the unique needs of survivors. The role requires delivering psycho-educational and recovery-focused activities that foster healing and resilience within the residential setting. The RM organizes and manages all Learning Center classes, schedules, volunteers, and ensures that the residential environment adheres to trauma-informed care standards. Mental health responsibilities include conducting intakes, assessments, and coordinating psychiatric evaluations, while supporting residents with crisis intervention and substance abuse recovery strategies.
As a team leader, the Residential Manager oversees the residential staff, facilitates ongoing training on trauma-responsive care, manages the residential schedule, and works closely with operational coordinators to maintain facility standards and supply management. Managerial duties also cover handling the residential budget, contributing to organizational communication and marketing initiatives, and providing detailed reports on program outcomes to senior leadership.
This full-time, in-person position offers a starting salary of $62,000 annually and includes a comprehensive benefits package. The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of seven years of experience in related fields such as social work, substance abuse recovery, or victim advocacy, with a strong background in trauma-informed care approaches. Job Qualifications
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in working with traumatized individuals such as abuse victims, substance abuse populations, victims of crime, women in crisis, at-risk youth, domestic violence, or similar groups
- Bachelor’s degree in social work or related field, Master’s degree preferred
- Fluent in both English and Spanish
- Skilled in leading effective psycho-educational and recovery groups
- Able to support the overall health and wellbeing of individual clients in direct care
- Knowledge of trauma-informed principles with ability to apply these in victim service delivery and lead best practices in trauma-responsive programming
- Strong team building skills
- Ability to organize and supervise schedules and people
- Ability to develop and maintain strong community partnerships
Job Duties
- Initiates and sets goals for programming according to the strategic objectives of the organization
- Delivers relevant trauma-informed content using evidence-based practices within the Learning Center and residential program
- Directs and schedules all Learning Center classes, activities, staffing and volunteers
- Maintains high standards of care and supports the agency in identifying and continuing to develop best practices in residential care for trafficking victims
- Records and reports program data and statistics monthly to National Residential Director
- Collaborates with national partners for training, sharing practices, and building networks of survivor care
- Completes intakes, assessments, screenings, and bio-psycho-socials to establish baseline of care for all residential clients
- Refers and makes recommendations for psychiatric evaluations and medication management and successfully advocates for client’s needs
- Oversees and stewards the mental health and wellbeing of all residents
- Works in conjunction with the Case Manager to ensure client needs are met and supports case planning
- Provides impromptu counseling as needed
- Advocates for client’s needs
- Applies best practices in substance abuse recovery to all aspects of programming
- Skillfully responds to crises and assists residents with emotion regulation
- Responsible for oversight of all residential staff and residential schedule with support from residential team
- Conducts all residential staff meetings and trainings
- Provides ongoing training in best practices and trauma-responsive care, vicarious trauma, specific job duties
- Works closely with the National Residential Operations Coordinator to ensure facilities are maintained and stewarded well, supplies are managed and stocked, coaching staff schedules maintained, good communication is in place for staff team
- Manages residential budget and expenses, provides reports and updates on needs
- Collaborates with Her Song’s team for communication and marketing purposes
- Provides reports on program outcomes
- Uses software effectively to record client progress
- Performs all other duties assigned
