Job Description
JASA is one of New York City’s largest and most trusted nonprofit organizations dedicated to serving older adults. With a long-standing commitment to improving the lives of thousands of seniors, JASA offers impactful, mission-driven services designed to support the health, well-being, and independence of this community. Their comprehensive programs address a range of needs, including housing stability, health services, social engagement, and advocacy. By fostering a supportive environment and promoting community integration, JASA plays a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for seniors across New York City.
As a Resident Service Coordinator at JASA, you will occupy a pivotal role within the Residential Services team. This position is designed to provide direct support to senior tenants, particularly focusing on formerly unhoused individuals transitioning back into permanent housing. As the primary support system for these seniors, you will engage in individual case management and orchestrate group programming that encourages social integration and promotes overall emotional well-being. Your responsibilities will include conducting clinical assessments, developing and updating case plans, facilitating advocacy for benefits and entitlements, and offering counseling and guidance tailored to the unique needs of each tenant.
Working under the supervision of the Supervisor of Residential Services, you will manage a caseload of senior tenants, ensuring that they maintain the subsidies, benefits, and supportive networks necessary for permanent housing. You will play an essential role in crisis prevention, collaborating closely with supervisors to address high-risk situations and work proactively to prevent evictions. Additionally, your work will involve community building through organizing recreational activities, tenant engagement meetings, and developing informal support systems that enhance tenants' social connections and quality of life.
The ideal candidate for this role will have a Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Social Work (BSW), Sociology, Gerontology, Psychology, Human Services, or a related field, along with at least one year of relevant experience. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Drive, and electronic case record systems is important, alongside strong communication skills. Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is preferred, reflecting the diverse population served by JASA. You will also need to demonstrate core values that embrace diversity and inclusiveness, understanding the impacts of race, religion, ethnicity, sexual orientation, and individual values in the delivery of services.
JASA offers a comprehensive benefits package designed to support the health, well-being, and professional growth of its employees. Highlights include access to multiple medical plans, dental and vision coverage, and wellness programs that foster employee health. Retirement savings options include a 403(b) plan with a Roth option and an employer-funded pension. Generous paid time off is provided, including four weeks of vacation, holidays, floating holidays, and sick days. Furthermore, employees will find ample opportunities for professional development and career advancement within a mission-focused, collaborative environment.
This position is an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about making a meaningful impact on the lives of seniors, particularly those who have faced housing instability, and who thrive in a collaborative, interdisciplinary setting. By joining JASA, you become part of a respected organization committed to equity, dignity, and quality in senior care.
