Job Description

JASA is one of New York City's largest and most trusted nonprofit organizations dedicated to serving older adults. With a mission to improve the lives of thousands of seniors across the city, JASA delivers a range of services that promote health, wellness, and independence among older populations. Established with a vision to provide compassionate support tailored to the unique needs of aging individuals, JASA combines clinical care, social services, and community engagement programs to create a comprehensive support system. Their broad scope covers health services, housing assistance, nutrition programs, and volunteer opportunities to empower seniors in achieving a better quality of life. JASA's commitment to innovation and excellence in service delivery has earned it a reputation as a leader in the nonprofit sector, making it an ideal place for professionals who are passionate about making a meaningful impact in the community.

As a Resident Service Coordinator at JASA, you will play a vital role in supporting senior tenants, particularly those who were formerly unhoused, as they transition back into the community and work to maintain permanent housing. This position involves providing individualized case management, as well as coordinating group programs that foster social integration and emotional well-being. The role reports directly to the Supervisor of Residential Services and offers the opportunity to work within a collaborative, interdisciplinary team environment. You will conduct monthly in-home assessments to monitor tenants' social and emotional needs, assist in securing housing subsidies and benefits, advocate for tenant entitlements, and provide counseling to resolve personal or tenancy-related issues. In addition to managing tenant cases, you will facilitate community-building efforts through group meetings and activities, thereby promoting informal support networks among residents.

The Resident Service Coordinator must also connect tenants with external resources including legal aid, primary healthcare, and mental health services, while playing a proactive role in crisis prevention by consulting on high-risk cases. The position demands a balanced approach that combines clinical case management skills with a compassionate commitment to enhancing the daily lives of seniors. JASA values diversity and inclusion, expecting the coordinator to appreciate and understand the varied cultural, religious, and personal backgrounds of the tenant population they serve. This employment opportunity offers engagement in meaningful, mission-driven work that directly contributes to stabilizing seniors’ lives by helping them regain independence and community connection. The role not only demands professional skill but also offers significant emotional rewards, making it an excellent fit for professionals dedicated to social service and senior care.
