The role of Resident Manager is a full-time position based in Los Angeles, CA, with a competitive hourly wage ranging from $29.00 to $30.50. This position involves managing a 43-unit residential complex specifically designed to serve residents aged 55 and older or individuals with disabilities. The Resident Manager is responsible for the overall management and operation of the property, ensuring that it meets the needs of its residents while maintaining financial health and compliance with all applicable policies and regulations.
Key responsibilities include collecting and processing rent payments, overseeing maintenance activities, and managing social service and activity coordination within the community. The Resident Manager works closely with maintenance technicians and other team members to prioritize and complete work orders, coordinate unit turnovers efficiently, and maintain the property's cleanliness and safety standards. Administrative duties such as handling move-ins and move-outs, maintaining organized resident files, and conducting applicant interviews from the waiting list are critical components of this role. Additionally, the Resident Manager plays a significant role in assisting residents with the recertification process to ensure compliance with affordable housing requirements.
The position demands strong leadership skills to train, onboard, and motivate staff, cultivating a positive and collaborative team environment. Financial management is a vital aspect, including preparing reports, managing accounts receivable and payable, and ensuring timely submission of payables aligned with company policies. Job Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years onsite experience as Assistant Community Manager
- college degree preferred
- certified Apartment Manager (CAM) or Accredited Resident Manager (ARM) preferred
- experience in affordable or permanent supportive housing required
- valid Driver’s License, reliable transportation and current auto insurance coverage
- ability to work evenings and weekends on call
- pass background and drug screening
- comply with company policies and handbook
- knowledge of OSHA laws and regulations
Job Qualifications
- College degree preferred
- certified Apartment Manager (CAM) or Accredited Resident Manager (ARM) preferred
- position requires a minimum of 2 years on-site as an Assistant Community Manager
- will consider 3 years supervisory experience in a customer service related business with appropriate certification(s) and/or prior experience as Community Manager
- affordable housing or permanent supportive housing experience required
- achieve Fair Housing certification prior to interaction with prospects or residents
- competence in personal computer skills, keyboard, internet search, math, Microsoft Office Suite/Office 365 including Word, Excel, Outlook as well as property management software applications
- must possess a valid Driver’s License, reliable transportation and current auto insurance coverage as this position may require some driving for company business
- knowledge of OSHA laws and regulations
- participate in training to comply with new projects, programs or existing laws
- be able to work evenings and weekends on call as needed
- present self in a neat, clean and professional manner at all times throughout the workday and/or whenever present at the community or representing the community
- comply with expectations as demonstrated in the Employee Handbook
- candidate will be required to pass a background and drug screening
Job Duties
- Oversee day-to-day property operations, ensuring consistent implementation of community policies and compliance standards
- prepare and submit weekly and monthly reports, and support the development of the annual operating budget
- manage accounts receivable and payable, including rent collection/processing and timely submission of payables
- supervise and delegate tasks to the Maintenance Technician
- monitor work orders, unit turns, and property upkeep
- perform administrative functions such as move-in/move-out processing, resident file management, and applicant interviews from the waiting list
- support residents through the recertification process and address resident concerns in a timely, professional manner
