The role of Resident Chef at Sur La Table is a vital leadership position within the company. Job Requirements

  • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • culinary degree strongly preferred or equivalent exceptional experience
  • 1 to 2 years of culinary instructor experience
  • 3 to 4 years of kitchen management experience
  • valid Food Manager Certification
  • strong leadership and communication skills
  • ability to analyze sales metrics and drive business growth
  • ability to work flexible schedule including nights, weekends and holidays
  • physical ability to stand for extended periods and perform kitchen tasks
  • commitment to customer-focused service culture
  • proficiency with retail systems and office software

Job Qualifications

  • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • culinary degree strongly preferred or equivalent exceptional experience
  • 1-2 years of experience as a culinary instructor
  • 3-4 years of progressively responsible kitchen management experience
  • valid Food Manager Certification
  • proven track record of achieving sales and motivating sales teams
  • strong leadership skills with ability to inspire and retain teams
  • excellent communication, problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • passion for community engagement and exceptional customer experiences
  • proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and retail systems preferred

Job Duties

  • Recruit, mentor and retain a high-performing culinary and retail team
  • lead, coach and inspire associates to exceed performance expectations and uphold a positive team culture
  • conduct regular performance evaluations and create development plans
  • represent Sur La Table’s brand by creating memorable, educational cooking class experiences
  • ensure outstanding cooking class execution and hold employees accountable
  • increase store engagement and foot traffic through classes and private events
  • stay current on products and training to maintain expertise
  • lead a customer-focused, Guest Obsessed culture in both kitchen and retail
  • manage customer feedback related to the culinary program
  • develop and implement strategies to drive sales growth
  • analyze key performance metrics daily to optimize store performance
  • consistently meet or exceed culinary and retail goals
  • manage daily store operations ensuring compliance with food safety, health codes, and sanitation
  • maintain inventory accuracy, minimize shrink, control expenses
  • handle alcohol in compliance with regulations and policies
  • ensure store safety and cleanliness
  • maintain accurate employee records
  • adhere to wage and hour laws and SLT policies
  • communicate and enforce Sur La Table policies and SOPs effectively
