Job Requirements

  • Must be 21 years of age or older at the time of employment
  • Culinary degree strongly preferred or equivalent experience
  • One to two years’ experience as a culinary instructor
  • Three to four years of progressively responsible kitchen management experience
  • Valid Food Manager Certification
  • Proven track record of achieving sales and motivating teams
  • Strong leadership and ability to inspire and retain teams
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities
  • Availability for flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to stand for long periods and perform physical tasks
  • Ability to work in a variable kitchen environment with allergens and hot surfaces

Job Qualifications

  • Must be 21 years of age or older at employment
  • Culinary degree strongly preferred
  • 1-2 years’ experience as a culinary instructor
  • 3-4 years of progressive kitchen management experience
  • Valid Food Manager Certification
  • Proven sales success and team motivation skills
  • Strong leadership and team development abilities
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Passion for community engagement and customer experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and retail systems preferred

Job Duties

  • Recruit, mentor and retain a high-performing team to meet business needs
  • Lead, coach and inspire associates to exceed performance expectations
  • Conduct performance evaluations and create development plans
  • Represent Sur La Table’s brand with memorable educational experiences
  • Ensure outstanding cooking class experiences following recipes and game plans
  • Work with store leadership to increase foot traffic through classes and events
  • Maintain expertise through ongoing training and product knowledge
  • Lead a customer-focused culture on the kitchen and sales floor
  • Manage customer feedback related to the culinary program
  • Drive sales growth through strategic culinary and retail initiatives
  • Analyze daily performance metrics to optimize store results
  • Meet culinary and retail goals by delivering exceptional classes
  • Manage daily store operations ensuring compliance with food safety and health regulations
  • Maintain inventory levels and control supply and culinary expenses
  • Handle liquor, wine and beer in compliance with regulations
  • Ensure store safety, cleanliness and maintenance
  • Maintain accuracy of employee records and compliance with wage laws
  • Communicate and enforce Sur La Table policies and SOPs
