Job Description

The Gardens of Mt. Pleasant is a well-respected and compassionate care facility specializing in providing quality support and assistance to residents in a community-based residential facility (CBRF) setting. We are currently seeking a CBRF Resident Assistant to join our supportive team. This role is essential in delivering direct care and assistance to our residents, focusing on activities of daily living such as personal hygiene, mobility, grooming, and dining. The Resident Assistant will play a crucial role in encouraging residents to maintain as much independence as possible while providing the necessary support to enhance their cognitive and physical health. Responsibilities include assisting with toileting, bathing, dressing, grooming, transfers, and providing emotional and social support to foster well-being and community engagement. The ideal candidate will demonstrate patience, empathy, and professionalism in all interactions, acting as a positive influence and advocate for residents. They will perform housekeeping duties, assist with meal preparation and dining, observe and report any changes in residents' conditions to supervisors promptly, and ensure adherence to infection control protocols.

This full-time role requires the candidate to be proactive, reliable, and capable of working independently while also functioning effectively as part of a team. Additional duties include attending staff meetings, adhering to workplace policies such as uniform and confidentiality protocols, and preparing residents for evacuation in emergency situations when necessary. The position offers a flexible schedule, incentive pay, weekend shift differential, health insurance, and 401K employer contributions. Personal protective equipment is provided and must be used as required to maintain safety standards. This role is fundamental in improving the quality of life for residents and upholding the supportive, respectful atmosphere that defines The Gardens of Mt. Pleasant.

Job Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Possess CBRF or CNA license
  • Ability to pass criminal background check
  • Ability to function independently with personal integrity and flexibility
  • Ability to work effectively with residents, employees, visitors, and family members
  • Ability to relate and work with disabled, ill, elderly and emotionally upset residents
  • Use time effectively to accomplish assigned cares for a group of residents

Job Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • CBRF or CNA license required
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Effective communication skills

  • Knowledge of infection control procedures

Job Duties

  • Ensures compliance with resident rights and HIPAA policies at all times
  • Provides residents with assistance for personal needs according to the support/care plan which may include toileting, bathing, dressing, grooming, mobility, transfers, and dining
  • Practices patience, compassion, and empathy in all interactions with the residents
  • Promotes improved quality of life for residents through person centered care and daily interactions including prompt response to calls for assistance, sensitivity to resident needs for socialization and privacy
  • Utilizes standard precautions and follows infection control procedures
  • Observes and informs supervisor immediately of any changes in the resident’s health or condition
  • Reports immediately any unusual events such as abuse, neglect, and emergency situations
  • Assists resident with dining and meal-related tasks
  • Completes resident’s laundry and cleaning duties as assigned
  • Reports maintenance needs promptly while ensuring safety
  • Practices proper body mechanics and safe handling techniques
  • Attends designated meetings
  • Adheres to all policies and procedures
  • Implements and supports resident’s care plan
  • Maintains professional approach regarding responsibilities and communication
  • Monitors and documents resident vitals and intake/output
  • Uses transfer equipment properly for safety
  • Reviews daily reports
  • Completes walkthrough with relief staff
  • Assists with evacuation in emergencies
  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor
