Job Description

Marriott International is a globally recognized leader in the hospitality industry, dedicated to providing exceptional guest experiences through its portfolio of distinguished brands, including The Ritz-Carlton. With over 100 award-winning properties worldwide, Marriott International prides itself on its commitment to quality, luxury, and service excellence. The company fosters an inclusive work environment that values the unique backgrounds, talents, and experiences of its associates, promoting a culture where creativity, thoughtfulness, and compassion thrive. Marriott is an equal opportunity employer that embraces diversity and is committed to non-discrimination in all aspects of employment.

The Ritz-Carlton, a premier luxury brand within Marriott's portfolio, is synonymous with impeccable service and refined guest experiences. The brand's reputation as a global leader in luxury hospitality is built on its Gold Standards, which include the Employee Promise, Credo, and Service Values. These standards guide every associate to deliver service that is gracious, thoughtful, and consistently exceeds guest expectations. Working at The Ritz-Carlton offers associates the opportunity to be part of a dynamic global team, grow professionally, and take pride in providing rare and special luxury service.

The role of Maintenance Engineer at The Ritz-Carlton is vital to maintaining the integrity and functionality of the facility’s mechanical and structural systems. This position involves scheduling and performing maintenance for critical building components such as boiler systems, pumps, ventilation systems, plumbing, water and sewage systems, and the Energy Management System (EMS). The Maintenance Engineer uses technical manuals, blueprints, and service manuals to perform preventive maintenance, repairs, and replacements, ensuring that all operations comply with engineering best practices, building codes, and safety standards.

The Maintenance Engineer is also responsible for conducting minor repairs across common and amenity areas, including tasks such as changing light bulbs, patching walls, painting, replacing air conditioning filters, and cleaning carpets. Regular maintenance of tools and equipment, including cleaning and lubrication, is also part of the role. Accurate record-keeping is essential, with daily logs maintained for operations, maintenance activities, safety measures, and incident reports.

Effective communication and collaboration are key elements of this position. The Maintenance Engineer interacts regularly with the Director of Residences and Residence Manager to resolve maintenance issues promptly. Adherence to company policies, safety protocols, and security standards is mandatory, along with completion of safety training and certifications. The role also emphasizes maintaining a professional personal appearance and confidentiality regarding proprietary information.

Physical demands of the role include performing tasks that require reaching overhead and below knees, bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping. The Maintenance Engineer must be capable of lifting or assisting with objects weighing up to and exceeding 100 pounds, navigating stairs, ramps, and ladders, and manipulating tools and equipment of varying sizes and weights.

This role requires a First Class Stationary Engineer’s Operating License and benefits from prior supervisory experience. A technical, trade, or vocational school degree and a minimum of three years’ related work experience are preferred qualifications. Working at The Ritz-Carlton presents an opportunity to deliver unparalleled luxury service, uphold the company's esteemed Gold Standards, and join a world-class hospitality team where your contributions are valued and your professional growth supported.
