Job Description
The Ritz-Carlton, part of the Marriott International portfolio, is a globally recognized luxury hotel brand known for its exceptional standards of service and commitment to guest satisfaction. Located at 1414 S Penn Sq, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, this prestigious establishment offers upscale accommodations, world-class amenities, and an impeccable guest experience. With over 100 award-winning hotels worldwide, The Ritz-Carlton prides itself on blending diverse cultures, talents, and experiences to create a unique and welcoming environment for guests and employees alike.
This specific role is a full-time, overnight position within the Rooms and Guest Services Operations category, focused on maintaining security and concierge services during the overnight shift. As a non-management team member, the candidate will undertake responsibilities that ensure the safety, comfort, and overall satisfaction of Residence owners and their guests throughout the night. The incumbent will act as the overnight concierge and theft prevention representative, providing a critical presence on the premises to help uphold The Ritz-Carlton's high standards of hospitality and security.
The primary duties include responding to Residence owners' requests for visitor information, special services such as transportation, reservations, and dry cleaning, and connecting them with appropriate service providers. Monitoring CCTV, perimeter alarms, duress alarms, and fire protection systems are integral parts of safeguarding the property. The role requires closing property entrances when necessary and handling any undesired individuals who attempt to disrupt hotel operations with professionalism and discretion. Prompt and efficient communication with other hotel departments such as engineering, bell services, and housekeeping is vital to resolve guest inquiries and operational issues.
This position demands detailed documentation of incidents, maintaining logs, and reporting to the next shift, ensuring continuity and comprehensive oversight. Physical requirements include the ability to stand, sit, or walk for extended periods, move objects up to 50 pounds independently, and assist with heavier loads as needed. Mobility around confined, elevated, or uneven spaces is expected, as well as the capacity to respond swiftly to emergencies.
The Ritz-Carlton culture emphasizes respect, dignity, and teamwork among colleagues, fostering an environment where all employees feel valued and empowered. The hotel also promotes inclusivity, equality, and accessibility in its hiring practices. As an overnight concierge, the employee embodies The Ritz-Carlton's Gold Standards, which include the employee promise, credo, and service values that guide daily operations and interactions. By joining The Ritz-Carlton team, the candidate will gain the opportunity to develop professionally in a luxury hospitality environment while delivering memorable experiences to guests and residents.
This role does not require prior supervisory experience or specialized certifications but does require at least a high school diploma or equivalent General Educational Development (GED) certificate. Previous related experience of at least one year is preferred to effectively handle the demands of guest service and security. The position reinforces safety protocols, requiring completion of safety training and certifications, adherence to company policies, and proactive identification of maintenance or safety issues.
Joining The Ritz-Carlton team means becoming part of a renowned brand synonymous with luxury, excellence, and innovation in the hospitality industry. Employees are not only contributors to outstanding guest experiences but also ambassadors of a culture that values creativity, kindness, and compassion. The overnight concierge role is vital in sustaining this legacy and ensuring that all guests and residents feel welcomed, secure, and cared for during their stay.
