Rail Events Productions, a subsidiary of American Heritage Railways, specializes in delivering unique and memorable experiences through theatrical and special events aboard moving trains. Known for their immersive productions, they combine the artistry of live theater with the thrill of railway journeys to create extraordinary entertainment adventures. One of their acclaimed productions is "Harry PotterTM: A Hogwarts Express Adventure," an interactive celebration that brings the magic of the beloved franchise to life for guests onboard. This production involves a daily cast and crew of 40-50 individuals serving over 2,000 guests, making it a fast-paced but rewarding environment that demands dedication, teamwork, and professionalism. The role of Food & Beverage Supervisor in the Rail Events Productions division is a seasonal, non-exempt hourly position offering a competitive wage of $23 per hour. This important leadership role reports directly to the Front of House Manager and is central to the success of food and beverage operations during events. The Food & Beverage Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all production aspects related to food and beverage in collaboration with several key positions, including the Production Food and Beverage Supervisor, local Production Manager, and Front of House Manager. As the on-site point of contact, this role requires excellent communication skills to liaise professionally with third-party vendors, railroad staff, event employees, and passengers.

This position demands strong leadership capabilities to motivate and support a team, ensuring smooth daily operations that elevate the passenger experience. Key duties include managing inventory coordination, maintaining quality control of food and beverage products post-show, and enforcing compliance with health and safety regulations. Supervisory responsibilities extend to staff scheduling, break management, maintaining cleanliness and organization, and upholding merchandising standards as set by the Production Food and Beverage Supervisor. The Food & Beverage Supervisor must thrive in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment, demonstrating excellent multitasking abilities and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

Working aboard an active railroad yard and on a moving train presents unique challenges, including varying indoor and outdoor conditions, the need to navigate uneven surfaces, and adherence to strict safety protocols. Job Requirements

  • Seasonal non-exempt hourly position
  • Ability to work varying schedules including evenings, weekends, and overtime
  • Ability to stand and walk on uneven or unsteady surfaces aboard a moving train
  • Able to work in indoor and outdoor environments with varying temperatures
  • Must adhere to local and state health and safety regulations
  • Strong multitasking and problem-solving skills required
  • Must maintain a pleasant and professional demeanor under pressure

Job Qualifications

  • Collaborative team player who is organized, reliable, detail-oriented, and a strong problem solver
  • Experience in food service, catering, and special events
  • Prior experience and a working knowledge of point-of-sales systems are a plus
  • Ability to solve problems in real time, in a live performance environment
  • Proven ability to work alongside and provide leadership for the event staff
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in written forms
  • Possesses strong self-motivation and thrives while working independently under remote management
  • Be physically capable of lifting heavy objects

Job Duties

  • Become familiar with and maintain the REP Food and Beverage equipment
  • Participate in the load in and load out process of the food and beverage area
  • Manage daily staff duties, executing inventory controls including replenishing, stockroom controls and receiving
  • Responsible for becoming familiar with and enforcing local and state health regulations
  • Oversee daily fast paced operations including all opening/closing processes, register management while ensuring 100% compliance with Rail Event Productions Food and Beverage event standards
  • Ensure the product meets REP quality standards
  • Work with local third-party vendors and Front of House Manager to coordinates cast, crew, and staff catered meals
  • Assist FOH Manager by ensuring the Retail or F&B staff take their proper breaks
  • Oversee the cleanliness, organization and maintenance of the food and beverage area
  • Maintain strict cleanliness, meet all safety protocols and show ready merchandising standards set by the Production Food and Beverage Supervisor
  • Cultivate a customer focused culture by ensuring staff members deliver personalized service while driving sales, while maintaining the quality of the products
  • Lead staff training, inspire a high performing staff to deliver exceptional customer service, and manage employee performance and morale in a temporary and at times high-paced environment
  • Responsible for weekly inventory of Food and Beverage amenities and product
  • Maintain communication with the Production Food and Beverage Supervisor throughout the season
  • Other duties as assigned
