Job Description
The City of Fort Wayne, Indiana, is a vibrant and growing community known for its commitment to enhancing public spaces and creating memorable experiences for its residents and visitors alike. Among its many initiatives, the city manages and programs activities along the scenic riverfront, offering residents opportunities to enjoy outdoor events, recreation, and cultural happenings. At the heart of this endeavor is the riverfront itself, which includes prominent locations such as Promenade Park and Headwaters Park. These spaces serve as hubs for community gatherings, celebrations, and various riverfront rentals, offering a picturesque backdrop and facilitating a lively atmosphere throughout the year.
Currently, the City of Fort Wayne is seeking a dedicated and personable Rental Coordinator to join its team on a part-time basis. This role is pivotal in ensuring the smooth operation of riverfront event rentals and community programming. As a Rental Coordinator, you will act as the primary liaison between the city and the public in managing rental inquiries, coordinating bookings, and overseeing events across multiple riverfront spaces. This position offers flexible scheduling with an average of 20 to 40 hours per week, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, to accommodate the dynamic nature of event planning. The hourly wage is set at $18.00 per hour.
In this capacity, you will be bold and organized, naturally adept at customer service and communication, enabling you to confidently manage all phases of event rentals—from the initial inquiry through contract management, payment processing, and on-site event support. You will be responsible for facilitating seamless, memorable experiences for community members while maintaining the highest level of professionalism and operational efficiency. This includes coordinating schedules with internal departments to avoid conflicts, conducting tours of rental spaces, and ensuring that facilities are clean, safe, and ready for each activity.
Additionally, you will provide leadership by assisting with the supervision of instructors, volunteers, and event support staff to ensure event success and adherence to established policies and procedures. Technical proficiency is essential, including the ability to use Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint to generate reports and manage records with accuracy.
This position is ideal for individuals who are organized, dependable, and thrive in community-focused environments. The role is a unique opportunity to contribute directly to the quality of life in Fort Wayne by fostering creative and engaging community events along the riverfront. You will gain valuable experience in event coordination, contract management, and customer service while playing a key role in one of the city’s most cherished public spaces.
Joining the City of Fort Wayne means being part of a dedicated team that values inclusivity, creativity, and community engagement. The city is committed to equal opportunity employment, providing a welcoming workplace for all qualified candidates. By becoming a Rental Coordinator, you will help bring the riverfront to life, enriching the cultural fabric of the city and ensuring that residents and visitors alike have positive, unforgettable experiences at Fort Wayne’s riverfront parks and event spaces.
