Housekeepers may also be required to perform light maintenance tasks like changing light bulbs and removing snow from entryways. Transportation to and from remote worksites might be necessary, adding an element of logistics and travel to the job. Job Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred
  • At least one year experience in commercial cleaning and housekeeping

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Clean, sweep, vacuum, mop, or restock hallways, stairways, offices, food preparation or break areas, kitchen areas or equipment, laundry rooms, clinics, living areas, work areas, off-site areas, common areas, restrooms, public areas, or other similar areas
  • Sweep, mop, scrub, strip, extract, wax, buff, vacuum all types of floors
  • Dust both low and high areas
  • Wipe down or clean various surfaces
  • Use appropriate equipment and cleaning solutions for all tasks
  • Remove and properly dispose of discarded materials
  • Compact trash
  • Remove and transport trash to the appropriate disposal areas
  • Change light bulbs and perform very light facility maintenance
  • Keep building entryways free of snow and debris
  • Operate a vehicle to work at remote locations
  • Perform certain types of laundry duties or periodically scheduled cleaning tasks
  • Serve as night or day janitor with varying duties or assignments
  • Notify supervisor if safety and sanitation standards are not being met
  • Perform other duties pertinent to the department or unit's success
