The Relief Driver position at Baker Commodities plays a crucial role in the safe and timely operation of commercial vehicles and equipment used to collect, transport, and deliver the company’s products. This role involves working variable shifts and days, requiring flexibility and reliability. Specifically, the Relief Driver will primarily be responsible for trap and interceptor pumping services, which involve safely removing and disposing of trap grease and wastewater from restaurant interceptor systems in compliance with all local ordinances and environmental regulations. This important function supports the company's grease collection and animal by-products services, contributing significantly to environmental protection efforts. The Relief Driver position emphasizes adherence to safety procedures and regulatory compliance, including DOT and FMCSA rules, while maintaining detailed logs related to vehicle operation, delivery routes, and service records. Job Requirements

- Be 21 or older to comply with Federal regulations
- Possess endorsements (tanker and doubles) based on vehicle assigned
- Have 2 years commercial vehicle driving experience with an acceptable MVR
- Ability to complete Entry Level Driver program if less than 2 years driving experience
- Hold a high school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to read and speak English as required by Federal Motor Carrier Department
- Understand and comply with all DOT and FMCSA rules and regulations
- Knowledge of transportation and safety principles
- Skill to operate, control and monitor vehicle and equipment
- Ability to work overtime and alternate schedules/routes
- Ability to travel locally with less than 5% overnight travel

Job Duties
- Check vehicle to ensure that mechanical, safety and emergency equipment is in clean and good working order
- Collect delivery instructions from appropriate sources and verify instructions and routes
- Drive assigned vehicle on designated route
- Follow appropriate safety procedures for transporting goods
- Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations or damage to vehicles
- Maintain logs of working hours, vehicle service, or repair status following state and federal regulations
- Record information such as weight/volume, mileage, time and fuel consumption
- Operate equipment such as GPS navigation and radio/phone to exchange information with supervisors or other points of contact
- Plan/adjust routes based on changing conditions using navigation equipment to maximize fuel efficiency
- Load or unload trucks using specialized equipment as necessary
- Interact with others in a professional and ethical manner
- Follow department and company procedures
- Keep up regular attendance and punctuality
- Other duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective operation of the business
