Job Description
The Endeavor Games is an esteemed multi-sport event dedicated to providing competitive opportunities for athletes with physical disabilities across all levels of sports. As part of the Wellness and Sport Department at a prominent educational institution, the Endeavor Games embodies a mission focused on empowerment, celebrating diversity, and fostering inclusivity through the power of sports. This event has grown to become one of the premier platforms where athletes can showcase their talents, improve their skills, and inspire others, while emphasizing community involvement and wellness. The organizing team behind the Endeavor Games is committed to delivering an outstanding experience for all participants, volunteers, and supporters by ensuring thoughtful planning and execution of every detail involved in this large-scale sporting event.
This particular role is a regular student technical position tailored for individuals looking to gain hands-on experience in event management and coordination. The position provides an excellent opportunity for a student eager to develop practical skills in project management, event logistics, and team collaboration, all while contributing meaningfully to an inspiring cause that impacts many lives positively. Working closely with the Events Coordinator and Wellness Center staff, the selected student will play a critical role in orchestrating the various components of the Endeavor Games. From initial planning stages to post-event evaluation, the student will be involved in a range of duties designed to enhance their professional competencies and understanding of event operations.
Students in this role can expect to dedicate up to 35 hours per week, primarily Monday through Friday, with the potential for occasional evening and weekend shifts. A key requirement includes availability during the second weekend in June to provide direct support during event activities. The role emphasizes effective communication, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Candidates will engage with athletes, volunteers, vendors, sponsors, and other stakeholders, ensuring the seamless integration of event logistics such as venue setup, transportation, accommodations, equipment handling, and adherence to safety and accessibility standards.
Moreover, the position encourages students to contribute to marketing and promotional efforts, including leveraging social media channels and managing outreach campaigns that raise awareness and engagement for the event. Upon completion of the Endeavor Games, students will assist in gathering valuable feedback, preparing comprehensive reports, and partaking in debrief meetings, gaining holistic insight into event evaluation and continuous improvement practices. This role is not only designed to refine organizational and strategic skills but also to promote a spirit of inclusivity and community commitment integral to the Endeavor Games’ mission.
