Job Description
Great Lakes Veterinary Specialists is a premier veterinary hospital dedicated to providing comprehensive and compassionate care for pets. As part of the VCA family, our hospital offers a unique hybrid model combining general practice with 24/7 specialty and emergency services. We pride ourselves on fostering a supportive and progressive work environment that values teamwork, continual learning, and the well-being of both our patients and staff. Our hospital is staffed by an exceptional team of caring and experienced veterinarians, Registered Veterinary Technicians (RVTs), and well-trained support staff, all committed to delivering the highest standard of animal care.
We are currently seeking a talented and experienced General Practice Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) to join our dynamic team full time. This position offers an excellent opportunity for RVTs eager to elevate their clinical skills and participate in a wide variety of cases. As a full-time team member, you will benefit from a comprehensive mentorship program designed to help you transition smoothly into your role, ensuring you have the support needed to work independently and confidently. The ideal candidate will have three to four years of emergency veterinary experience, demonstrate a strong work ethic, maintain a positive attitude, and possess the ability to think quickly and adapt in a fast-paced hospital setting.
In this role, you will perform essential veterinary technician duties that include conducting physical examinations and patient assessments, monitoring anesthesia during procedures and recovery, administering intravenous fluids and calculating continuous rate infusions (CRI), handling hands-free radiology and diagnostic imaging, and managing client communications including discharge instructions. The hospital offers a variable full-time schedule with mandatory weekend rotations, and competitive compensation ranging from $20 to $26 per hour based on your skill set, experience, and licensure status.
Great Lakes Veterinary Specialists is deeply committed to the health and wellness of our team members. We foster an inclusive, equitable, and diverse workplace where asking questions and ongoing training are encouraged. Beyond professional development, our newly renovated hospital provides numerous opportunities for team-building activities and staff appreciation events, such as our popular pop-up staff parties with games, events, and prizes.
We also offer a robust benefits package that includes leadership and career growth opportunities, generous continuing education allowances, discounts for VetGirl and Fear Free certification, free NAVTA memberships, licensure tuition support and scholarships, license reimbursement, wellness subscriptions like Head Space, referral bonuses, and competitive wages. Additional benefits include medical, dental, and vision insurance, life insurance, long and short-term disability coverage, paid parental leave, infertility benefits, paid vacation and sick time, a 401(k) retirement plan, and free access to educational platforms such as Plumbs and Vetfolio.
We pride ourselves on maintaining a culture of mutual respect, recognition, and teamwork, where every associate contributes ideas and suggestions to help us grow and improve continuously. If you are a motivated RVT looking to grow with a collaborative, supportive team at a respected multidisciplinary veterinary hospital, Great Lakes Veterinary Specialists is the place for you. We are an Equal Opportunity Employer dedicated to supporting veterans and individuals with disabilities, ensuring a welcoming workplace for a diverse range of talent.
