Located in Charlottesville, Virginia, UVA Health integrates patient care, education, and research to deliver exceptional healthcare services to communities throughout Virginia and beyond. With a distinguished reputation in multiple adult specialties and pediatric care, UVA Health is known for its comprehensive cancer center, level 1 trauma center, and high national rankings in several clinical areas. The healthcare system also includes several community hospitals and an extensive network of primary and specialty clinics, emphasizing accessibility and patient-centered care. Nursing at UVA Health is characterized by professional governance, shared accountability, and a strong commitment to advancing practice through evidence-based innovation. This commitment creates a supportive and dynamic environment where nurses are valued for their autonomy, collaboration, and professional voice. The outpatient surgery centers within UVA Health are dedicated to providing expert perioperative care in settings designed to optimize clinical excellence, patient safety, and efficient workflow. These centers include the Outpatient Surgery Center in the Battle Building, the Outpatient Center on Ivy Road, and the Surgical Care Riverside location, all serving a diverse case mix in outpatient surgery.
This Registered Nurse position within UVA Health's Outpatient Surgery Centers offers an exceptional opportunity to work in a fast-paced, focused outpatient OR environment while maintaining a healthy work-life balance. The role is designed to support clinical rigor and patient-centered care with predictable Monday through Friday schedules, no holidays, weekends, or nights, and minimal on-call hours enhanced by incentive pay. Registered Nurses in this role deliver comprehensive perioperative nursing care across different surgical specialties, including preoperative preparation, intraoperative support, and postoperative recovery. Collaboration is essential, as nurses work closely with surgeons, anesthesia providers, surgical technologists, and other nursing staff to ensure safe, seamless procedures. The position supports a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement, and offers opportunities to develop leadership skills through Charge RN roles and other professional growth pathways. Additionally, UVA Health supports nurses with a clear clinical career ladder and provides resources such as easy parking access, leadership development programs, and the stability of an academic medical center environment.
Living in Charlottesville further enhances the appeal of this role. The city offers a high quality of life with its scenic Blue Ridge Mountain backdrop, rich cultural and culinary experiences, and a strong sense of community. Outdoor enthusiasts can enjoy hiking and wineries, while families benefit from quality schools and affordable living compared to major metropolitan areas. UVA Health is committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion, encouraging applications from all individuals, including veterans and persons with disabilities. Relocation assistance may be available for qualified candidates. The pay range for this position is $39.90 to $53.00 hourly, with individual compensation based on experience, education, and qualifications.
