Job Description

The Woman's Hospital of Texas is a premier healthcare institution dedicated exclusively to the health and well-being of women and newborns. Founded in 1976 by 29 visionary physicians, it holds the distinction of being the first women's hospital in Houston and the first facility in Texas devoted solely to women's health at all life stages. With over 420 beds, this hospital has grown to become the state’s leading center for specialized care in breast health, imaging, gynecology, minimally invasive surgery, infertility, obstetrics, high-risk pregnancy, and pediatrics. The Woman's Hospital delivers more than 800 babies per month, the highest volume in Texas, and manages more multiple births than any other hospital in the region.

Known for its compassionate care and clinical excellence, the hospital features a Level IV Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), providing the most advanced care for premature and critically ill newborns. It is also proud to offer the only March of Dimes NICU Family Support program in the area, emphasizing family-centered care. As an essential member of HCA Houston Healthcare, the largest healthcare network in the region, The Woman’s Hospital benefits from the strength and resources of a nationally recognized system committed to delivering stronger, smarter, and more accessible healthcare to women across Houston.

HCA Healthcare, the parent organization, has been honored multiple times as one of the World's Most Ethical Companies by the Ethisphere Institute and invests heavily in community health through charitable care and other support programs. In recent years, HCA Healthcare has spent approximately $3.7 billion on charitable care, uninsured discounts, and other uncompensated expenses, reflecting its commitment to making healthcare accessible to all.

The Registered Nurse (RN) role within the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at The Woman's Hospital is a highly specialized and impactful position focused on delivering high-quality care to the most vulnerable patients—the newborns requiring intensive medical attention. The RN in this role is responsible for coordinating and overseeing nursing care, ensuring a safe and supportive environment for both infants and their families. This position supports patient assessment, pain management, and the identification of any changes in patient condition, including signs of abuse or neglect, ensuring all care is documented meticulously and performed according to medical provider orders.

This full-time nursing role requires a compassionate professional who can thrive in a fast-paced, specialized clinical setting. The ideal candidate will hold an Associate Degree in Nursing or RN Diploma, with a Bachelor's Degree preferred. They must have at least less than one year of applicable experience but be licensed to practice as a registered professional nurse within their state or hold an active compact license. Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) is mandatory, with Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification required within 60 days of hire.

Working at The Woman's Hospital of Texas offers the chance to be part of a leading healthcare team dedicated to advancing nursing practice and improving patient outcomes in neonatal care. The hospital values continuous learning and growth, providing support for education through tuition assistance, certification support, and partnerships with institutions such as Galen College of Nursing. Nurses here benefit from a culture that prioritizes safety, excellence, and compassion, contributing to why more than 80 percent of its hospitals earn high safety grades and recognition as Magnet or Pathway to Excellence facilities.

This is an exceptional opportunity for nurses ready to make a profound impact in women's and newborn healthcare. The Woman's Hospital prides itself on its philosophy of 'Woman First,' which guides its comprehensive and empathetic approach to care. Join this esteemed institution to grow your career while contributing to an organization that is shaping the future of neonatal nursing and women's health in Texas and beyond.
