Job Description

Tenet Memphis is a well-established healthcare provider located in Memphis, Tennessee, known for delivering high-quality patient care through its comprehensive range of medical services. As part of the Tenet Healthcare network, it operates with a strong commitment to community health, innovative medical practices, and patient-centered care. The hospital offers a collaborative environment for healthcare professionals to thrive and make a significant impact on patient outcomes. Situated in a vibrant city, Tenet Memphis serves a diverse population and continuously strives to uphold its vision of leading healthcare with compassion and excellence.

The role of Registered Nurse (RN) Manager for Day Surgery at Tenet Memphis is a critical leadership position within the nursing department. This full-time, ongoing staff role involves working 36 hours per week with 12-hour shifts, ensuring continuity of care and operational efficiency in the day surgery unit. The RN Manager acts as a key support figure to the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO), providing leadership and direct oversight of nursing and patient care services on the unit level. This role requires someone with a strong nursing background complemented by progressive management experience to effectively coordinate the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing practices.

The RN Manager is responsible for ensuring that the day surgery unit maintains the highest standards of nursing care, patient safety, and clinical competency. This includes managing resources efficiently to maximize productivity while minimizing costs, mentoring nursing staff, and serving as a resource and role model in clinical practice. The manager plays a pivotal role in fostering open communication with the nursing director and other leadership to uphold patient care standards and quickly address operational challenges.

Beyond administrative duties, the manager is expected to delegate tasks appropriately among nursing staff according to legal and professional guidelines, and provide direct patient care when necessary. This hands-on involvement ensures the manager remains connected with the unit's daily workflow and patient needs. Competence in performing job-specific and department-specific duties, as well as meeting nursing leadership expectations, is essential for success in this position.

Ideal candidates for this role will be graduates of an accredited nursing school, possess the required RN licensure, and have at least one year of progressive management experience in a hospital setting, either as a leader or a full-time charge nurse. Certifications such as Basic Life Support (BLS) are mandatory upon hire, along with Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI), and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), as appropriate to the specialized units within the hospital.

This opportunity is ideal for nursing professionals who are eager to advance their leadership careers in a dynamic healthcare environment. The role offers the chance to work in a supportive and forward-thinking healthcare organization committed to professional development and excellence in patient care management. Job seekers who are passionate about improving surgical patient outcomes and operational nursing efficiency in a structured and resource-equipped setting will find this position fulfilling.

Tenet Memphis is committed to equal employment opportunities and investing in the ongoing education and certification of its staff to ensure that all nurses deliver evidence-based, compassionate patient care.
