The role of Radiology Procedural Nurse at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, positions the successful candidate at one of the largest and most advanced imaging centers in North America. This fast-paced, high-acuity environment includes 15 imaging locations, with specialized pediatric practices and extensive CT and MRI resources. In this role, nurses provide sedation and monitoring for a diverse array of imaging procedures while caring for patients across all age groups and acuity levels. The position is characterized by a high degree of autonomy and collaboration, with nurses working closely alongside highly skilled peers and physician partners to deliver evidence-based care.

The Radiology Procedural Nurse is accountable for coordinating nursing care, educating patients and families, and facilitating transitions of care consistent with professional nursing standards. This role includes duties such as planning, implementing, evaluating, and communicating all phases of nursing care and serving as a leader through mentoring, teaching, and participating in quality improvement initiatives. The position promotes teamwork and demands excellent communication and critical thinking skills, with the opportunity for nurses to contribute to committee work and special projects.

The role may require occasional driving of a personal vehicle as business needs dictate. The position is eligible for Tennessee sponsorship and requires appropriate licensure and certification prior to employment.

Job Requirements

  • Associate degree or higher in nursing
  • One year of RN experience
  • Proof of baccalaureate degree completion within five years if RN start date is after April 1, 2020
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to adapt to unpredictable work situations
  • Ability to work flexible hours including nights and weekends
  • Willingness to participate in continuing education
  • Must obtain current RN license prior to start date
  • ACLS certification required
  • BLS certification required
  • Compliance with departmental specialty certification requirements
  • Must provide three recent performance appraisals if internal candidate
  • Ability to drive personal vehicle as required
  • No implants or devices like pacemakers that pose risk

Job Qualifications

  • Graduate of a nursing program accredited by ACEN, CCNE, or NLN CNEA
  • One year of RN experience required
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience working in a team environment
  • Computer proficiency including electronic medical record systems
  • Ability to work flexible hours
  • Strong critical thinking and leadership skills
  • Current RN license by applicable state requirements
  • ACLS certification or willingness to obtain during orientation
  • Valid BLS certification within 90 days of start date
  • Additional specialty certification or training as required by the work area

Job Duties

  • Coordinate nursing care including direct patient care
