Job Description
SCA Health is a leading healthcare organization committed to delivering exceptional specialty care through a network of more than 370 ambulatory surgical centers, over 400 specialty physician practice clinics, and numerous labs and surgical hospitals. As a part of Optum, SCA Health emphasizes patient-centered and accessible healthcare solutions designed to support physicians, health systems, and employers in providing efficient, value-based care without compromising quality or autonomy. With a dedicated team of over 15,000 professionals, SCA Health embodies a culture rooted in its mission, vision, and seven core values: clinical quality, integrity, service excellence, teamwork, accountability, continuous improvement, and inclusion. These values shape the organization's approach to healthcare, ensuring that every decision and action reflects a deep commitment to patients, physicians, and communities alike.
The role available is for a Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in preoperative care, a critical position that involves thorough assessment and preparation of patients before surgical procedures. This full-time position offers competitive hourly wages ranging from USD $30.00 to $50.82 per hour, reflecting the importance and responsibility of the role. As a PreOp RN at SCA Health, you will work closely within a multidisciplinary team to develop individualized care plans that ensure patient safety, comfort, and positive surgical outcomes. Your responsibilities will include comprehensive assessments of cardiovascular, respiratory, neurological, and mental health status, as well as hemodynamic stability and pain management needs. You will also be expected to interpret data accurately from both non-invasive and invasive monitoring devices, incorporating a sound understanding of pathophysiology and anesthesia techniques relevant to the perioperative setting.
Patient advocacy and safety are paramount in this role. You will protect patients from injury by vigilant monitoring and management during preoperative interventions, ensuring their physical and emotional comfort. Your duties will further encompass the safe administration of medications adhering strictly to protocols such as the 8-rights of medication administration, infection control, fluid management, and the maintenance of normothermia. In addition to direct patient care, you will facilitate communication among the care team by providing accurate hand-off reports and participating in quality improvement initiatives. This role also demands active participation in team meetings, continuous competency maintenance, professional development, and full compliance with facility policies and Universal Protocol site validations and time-out policies.
Working at SCA Health means joining an organization that values your expertise and invests in your career growth. You will benefit from a supportive work environment that promotes teamwork, accountability, and ethical care within legal standards. The role offers not only a competitive salary but also a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, and vision coverage, a 401(k) plan with company match, paid time off, life and disability insurance, and other valuable perks designed to support your health, well-being, and financial future. If you are passionate about advancing patient care in a role that challenges and rewards you, SCA Health encourages you to bring your ideas and make a tangible impact within a leading specialty care organization.
