Job Description
MetroWest Medical Center is a renowned healthcare institution committed to providing exceptional medical care to the communities it serves. Established in Framingham in 1893 as the first public medical facility, it has grown into a comprehensive medical network comprising Framingham Union Hospital and Leonard Morse Hospital. Framingham Union Hospital offers extensive health services including 24-hour emergency care, advanced cardiac care, sophisticated cancer treatments, and specialized maternity care, featuring a Special Care Level IIB nursery and high-risk pregnancy support. Leonard Morse Hospital specializes in behavioral health, providing dedicated mental health services to the region. MetroWest Medical Center is recognized for excellence, holding the prestigious Gold Seal of Approval from the Joint Commission, highlighting its adherence to high performance and safety standards. The cardiac care team at the center is nationally recognized, ranking among America's top hospitals for coronary intervention and placing in the top 5 percent nationwide for coronary interventional procedures in 2023. This prestigious status underscores the center's commitment to quality and patient outcomes.
The role offered is for a leadership position reporting to the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO), designed to provide managerial oversight and operational support within nursing and related patient care areas in the hospital setting. This position demands a highly skilled and action-oriented nurse leader who will take responsibility for assessing, planning, coordinating, implementing, and evaluating nursing practices at the unit level. A key component of the role is to ensure the delivery of high-quality, safe, and appropriate nursing care, championing clinical competency, and optimizing resources supporting patient care. The role assumes 24/7 accountability for areas assigned by the manager, effectively acting as the manager in their absence or as delegated. This includes ensuring compliance with nursing standards, fostering a positive and collaborative clinical environment, and advocating for the nursing profession as a role model and leader.
The ideal candidate will possess an active and current registered nurse license in their practicing state and demonstrate effective interpersonal, communication, leadership, and operational skills within hospital management. This position requires proven experience in progressive management roles such as charge nurse or nurse manager within hospital settings, complemented by an academic degree in nursing. Preference is given to candidates holding a bachelor’s or master’s degree. Offering competitive compensation in the range of $42.30 to $84.87 per hour, the position provides a meaningful opportunity for candidates to impact patient care and enhance the professional nursing practice within a respected healthcare institution.
MetroWest Medical Center prioritizes not only clinical excellence but also the well-being and development of its team members. Employees benefit from comprehensive medical, dental, vision, and life insurance plans; 401(k) retirement savings with employer match; generous paid time off; and extensive career development and continuing education opportunities. Additional benefits include health savings accounts, flexible spending accounts for healthcare and dependents, employee assistance programs, employee discounts, and voluntary benefits such as pet and legal insurance, accident and critical illness coverage, long-term care, elder and childcare support, and auto and home insurance. The center’s culture emphasizes growth, teamwork, and dedication to improving community health outcomes, making it an excellent environment for nursing leaders seeking career advancement and fulfillment.
