Job Description

CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Hospital - Westover Hills (CSRH-WH) is a prominent 253-bed hospital located in the rapidly expanding region of San Antonio, Texas. This hospital serves as a vital healthcare provider in the area, offering a wide range of specialized medical services designed to meet the diverse needs of the community. The hospital is well-recognized for its advanced orthopedic and surgical care programs, including cutting-edge spine surgery. CSRH-WH is also equipped with a robust Intensive Care Unit that provides critical care for patients with severe and complex health conditions. In addition to these services, the hospital offers specialized treatment in neurology, focusing on stroke and neurovascular care, comprehensive cardiovascular diagnostics and surgeries including open heart procedures, and vascular laboratory testing. The Sleep Center caters to patients with sleep disorders, while women’s services and a newborn nursery support maternal and infant health. The hospital also features the CHRISTUS Weight Loss Institute, wound care, rehabilitation services, emergency services, and more.

The hospital campus includes an Outpatient Imaging Center and an Ambulatory Surgery Center, facilitating convenient access to diagnostic and surgical outpatient care. Additionally, there are four medical plazas on site, one of which houses the CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Family Medicine Residency Program and Family Health Center, underlining the hospital's commitment to medical education and community health.

This role is for a certified Nurse who will play a critical part in delivering patient care at CSRH-WH. The ideal candidate will practice independently within the clinical setting and be equipped to handle routine as well as complex nursing tasks. This position demands a professional who can manage the intricate aspects of patient care while aligning with long-term clinical goals and adapting to fluctuating situations. The nurse will demonstrate a thorough awareness of all clinical dynamics, making appropriate decisions, delegating assignments as needed, and ensuring comprehensive patient care. The expectation is for the nurse to meet the OneCHRISTUS Competencies, which include leadership at various levels, from leading oneself to leading teams.

The nurse will function in accordance with the American Nurses Association Scope and Standards of Practice by engaging in systematic nursing processes such as assessment, diagnosis, planning, interventions, and evaluation of patient care. The role also involves addressing the multifaceted psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and their families, ensuring holistic care. Providing medication and therapies under specified protocols while monitoring therapeutic outcomes, recording detailed patient histories, and educating patients and their caregivers are essential responsibilities. The candidate should be adept at identifying educational needs, applying resources to patient teaching, and adjusting care protocols to meet evolving patient conditions.

This position is on a Per Diem (PRN) basis, meaning the nurse will work as needed, providing flexibility in scheduling. It requires relocation, indicating that the nurse must be prepared to move to the San Antonio area to fulfill the job responsibilities effectively. The employment type is per diem, supporting the hospital's demand-driven staffing model and offering the nurse the opportunity to work in a dynamic and fast-paced healthcare environment. This role is well-suited for nurses seeking professional growth in a comprehensive medical facility with diverse clinical challenges and advanced healthcare services. Apart from clinical expertise, the prospective nurse is expected to possess strong communication, critical-thinking, and leadership skills to excel in this collaborative hospital environment.
