Job Description

CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Hospital - Westover Hills (CSRH-WH) is a distinguished 253-bed hospital located in one of the fastest-growing areas of San Antonio, Texas. Known for its comprehensive and specialized healthcare services, CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Hospital offers a wide range of medical disciplines including orthopedic and surgical care with advanced spine surgery, intensive care, and complex neurology services for stroke and neurovascular conditions. The hospital also excels in cardiovascular care, providing everything from diagnostic services to open-heart surgery. Additional specialties include a vascular lab, sleep center, women’s health services, newborn nursery, weight loss institute, wound care, rehabilitation, and emergency services, making it a critical healthcare provider in the region.

The hospital campus also features an outpatient imaging center, an ambulatory surgery center, and four medical plazas that house various programs such as the CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Family Medicine Residency Program and Family Health Center. These facilities enhance the hospital’s ability to deliver continuous and coordinated care across multiple specialties.

The role of a nurse at CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Hospital is pivotal to delivering high-quality patient care. Nurses here practice independently in a clinical setting, demonstrating a strong awareness of all relevant aspects of patient care situations. They provide both routine and complex nursing care, using a nursing process that includes assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation. This role requires an ability to manage clinical contingencies effectively while also planning for long-range patient care goals.

Nurses at CSRH-WH are expected to meet the OneCHRISTUS Competencies, which include leadership roles such as Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders. Consistent with the American Nurses Association (ANA) Scope and Standards of Practice, nurses provide holistic care addressing not just the physical but also psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and their families. The position involves medication administration and treatment under established protocols, careful monitoring for side effects and treatment efficacy, and thorough documentation of patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided.

A significant part of the nurse’s responsibility is patient and caregiver education, assessing learning needs, identifying potential issues, and connecting them with appropriate resources to promote health and well-being. This full-time position operates on an 8-hour shift from 10 AM to 7 PM, providing a structured work schedule that supports work-life balance. The ideal candidate will have at least one year of experience in a related nursing specialty, a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing is preferred, along with essential certifications such as Basic Life Support (BLS) and a current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Texas or compact license acceptance.

Joining CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Hospital as a nurse provides an opportunity to be part of a dynamic, patient-centered healthcare team focused on exceptional clinical outcomes and compassionate care. The hospital’s comprehensive service offerings and emphasis on professional growth and development make it an attractive workplace for nursing professionals committed to advancing their careers while making a meaningful impact in the community.
