The Registered Dietitian II position is a full-time role within Christiana Care's Weight Management program. This program offers extensive options that cater to patients seeking guidance and treatment for weight-related health issues. The scope of the program includes personalized medically supervised plans, one-on-one counseling sessions, group education classes, a meal-replacement strategy, and bariatric surgery support. Working in a multidisciplinary team alongside nurse practitioners, exercise physiologists, clinical psychologists, and fellow dietitians, the Registered Dietitian II will play a vital role in helping patients with weight management and post-operative nutritional care. The role averages 10-15 patients daily and features a flexible schedule primarily Monday through Friday, with occasional evenings. The emphasis in this role is on delivering comprehensive nutritional assessments, effective counseling, and ongoing patient education to promote healthier lifestyles and aid recovery in bariatric patients. Job Requirements
- Registered dietitian (R.D.)
- Licensed in the state of Delaware (L.D.N.)
- Bachelor’s degree in food and nutrition
- Minimum one year clinical dietitian experience preferred
- Commitment to obtain certified diabetes educator credential within 2 years if not currently certified
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in food and nutrition, registered dietitian (R.D.)
- Minimum one year experience as a clinical dietitian, nutrition outreach, counseling and group education related to chronic disease preferred
- Candidates who have recently concluded their internship and are registered dietitians will be considered
- Certified diabetes educator (CDE) preferred or commitment to obtain within 2 years as necessary
Job Duties
- Performs in-depth nutritional assessments for patients at risk of or with a chronic disease, obesity, and those who are seeking bariatric surgery
- Demonstrates the ability to obtain and interpret scientific information to identify age-specific needs and to provide the appropriate care and education
- Effectively communicates and evaluates diet history data through computer analysis
- Demonstrates skill and knowledge necessary to provide care appropriate to the pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric population
- Provides individual counseling and group education
- Maintains medical records according to HIPAA guidelines and third-party billing guidelines
- Designs and presents clinically accurate innovative presentations for other health care professionals and the community
- Participates in inter-disciplinary team meetings and patient care
- Reviews, evaluates, and utilizes current nutrition and chronic disease management research
- Performs assigned work safely, adhering to established departmental safety rules and practices
- Reports to supervisor any unsafe activities, conditions, hazards, or safety violations
- Performs other duties as assigned
