This full-time position operates during the day shift and involves providing optimal nutritional care to patients who are undergoing surgical bariatric procedures. The role is integral to the multidisciplinary healthcare team focused on exceptional patient outcomes, offering nutrition assessments, designing tailored care plans, and delivering evidence-based nutritional guidance. The dietitian will work closely with physicians, nurses, diet technicians, patients, and families to manage nutritional interventions that support recovery and overall health. Responsibilities include monitoring for food and drug interactions, using electronic medical records for documentation, and actively participating in team collaboration to ensure the highest standards of patient care. This position requires not only clinical expertise but also excellent communication and educational skills, as the dietitian educates patients and healthcare team members on nutrition management tailored to the specific needs of bariatric surgery patients. Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in food and nutrition dietetics or related field
- Registration as a dietitian with the Commission on Dietetic Registration
- State licensure as a licensed dietitian/nutritionist
- Maintenance of registration and licensure as per guidelines
- Minimum one year of experience as a dietitian preferably in a healthcare environment
- Analytical ability to collect information synthesize a problem list and implement interventions
- Effective verbal and written communication skills including explaining clinical technical concepts to diverse audiences
- Allergen awareness training/certificate preferred
- Serv Safe Management training/certificate preferred
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in food and nutrition dietetics or related field
- Registration as a dietitian with the Commission on Dietetic Registration
- State licensure as a licensed dietitian/nutritionist
- Minimum one year of experience as a dietitian preferably in a healthcare environment
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to explain clinical and technical concepts to physicians health care team members patients and families
Job Duties
- Develops and implements patient specific nutritional care plans interventions and goals as per nutrition practice guidelines and clinical nutrition policies
- Provides information on medical nutrition therapy to physicians and allied health care team members
- Provides guidance to diet technicians to ensure appropriate medical nutrition therapy is delivered to patients
- Monitors for food and drug interactions and makes appropriate interventions
- Educates patients on food and drug interactions when appropriate
- Documents all assessments patient education nutrition care plans interventions and goals in the electronic medical record utilizing standardized language and nutrition care process
- Confers with physicians and other allied health care team members to clarify orders recommends appropriate medical nutrition therapy and exchanges patient information
