The position of Registered Dietitian at Banner Health is a full-time role designed to manage complex caseloads by providing comprehensive nutritional assessments, including nutrition-focused physical exams, and delivering patient-centered nutrition care plans. This role requires collaboration with an interdisciplinary health care team to influence patient care policies, programs, and quality improvement initiatives. Employees in this role engage in patient and family nutrition counseling and education while developing nutrition standards of practice and educational materials. The Registered Dietitian is tasked with initiating and managing nutrition care, including enteral and parenteral nutrition protocols, ensuring compliance with state regulations and evidence-based practice guidelines. This position demands strong communication skills and leadership to mentor new staff, coordinate with nursing areas, and participate in continuous quality improvement. The role follows a day shift schedule from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm on Monday through Friday, with alternating weekends and rotating holidays, and includes a $10,000 sign-on bonus for a 12-month commitment, signaling the organization’s investment in retaining qualified professionals. Job Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) degree required
  • Must be Registered Dietitian or RD Eligible
  • Must obtain RD credentials within 6 months of hire
  • Must maintain current registration through Commission on Dietetic Registration annually
  • Master’s degree preferred but not required
  • Experience in nutrition support (enteral and parenteral nutrition)
  • New graduates may qualify if internship included nutrition support experience
  • Must hold current licensure as required by state law
  • Must communicate effectively and work independently
  • Must prioritize patient caseload
  • Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card required for Behavioral Health clinical settings
  • Must sign Arizona Criminal History Affidavit upon hire

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, or equivalent coursework
  • Registered Dietitian (RD) or RD Eligible as defined by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR)
  • Master's degree preferred
  • Experience in nutrition support including enteral and parenteral nutrition
  • Ability to maintain current licensure as required by State law
  • Effective communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize patient caseloads
  • Additional related education or experience preferred

Job Duties

  • Provide comprehensive nutrition assessment of patients' nutritional needs including nutrition-focused physical exams
  • Maintain competency in enteral and parenteral nutrition clinical practice protocols
  • Initiate and manage nutrition care and write orders per state regulations
  • Evaluate effectiveness of nutrition care plans and communicate with healthcare team
  • Provide nutrition education to patients, families, staff, and healthcare professionals
  • Provide leadership and monitor patient care procedures, acting as liaison with nursing areas
  • Participate in quality improvement activities and outcome studies
  • Mentor new staff and interns where assigned
  • Manage performance and training of assigned staff where applicable
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare providers
  • Develop nutrition standards of practice and educational materials
