Job Description

Alamo Drafthouse Cinema is a highly respected and innovative cinema chain known for its unique blend of theatrical film presentations combined with a restaurant and bar experience. Founded in Austin, Texas, Alamo Drafthouse has grown extensively, boasting multiple locations across the United States, including major hubs such as Dallas, Denver, Chicago, San Francisco, and New York City. The company has a strong commitment to delivering an unparalleled guest experience that marries quality food and beverage offerings with curated movie screenings in a comfortable, fun atmosphere. It is not merely a place to watch movies but a full entertainment destination where every detail matters—from the selection of films to the preparation of food and the ambiance of the venues. The company’s culture emphasizes inclusivity, innovation, and high standards of operational excellence.

The Regional Field Food & Beverage Trainer role at Alamo Drafthouse Cinema is a dynamic and integral position designed to uphold and enhance the company’s food and beverage standards across multiple venues within an assigned region. This role is predominantly field-based, requiring approximately 90% in-venue presence and up to 70% travel within the region to actively train, coach, and support on-site teams. The position offers competitive compensation ranging from $65,000 to $75,000 annually, plus an incentive bonus based on performance, reflecting the importance of this role in driving overall operational success.

As a Regional Field Food & Beverage Trainer, you will work closely with the Operations, Culinary, and Training teams to enforce Alamo’s stringent standards related to cost of goods sold (COGS), cleanliness, food safety, and product quality. Your hands-on coaching and guidance will foster stronger teams capable of maintaining consistent, high-quality food and beverage experiences that meet brand standards. This role focuses on bridging the gap between strategic policies and practical, daily execution within theaters, thereby ensuring all guest and teammate interactions are exceptional. It also demands a strong capacity to identify performance gaps and deliver actionable improvement plans that enhance team skills and operational results.

The role involves designing and implementing comprehensive training programs for both hourly team members and managerial staff. You will lead important initiatives such as the Training the Trainer program and serve as a key resource during new menu rollouts or operational changes. Additionally, you will utilize learning management systems (LMS) like Wisetail to manage and deliver training content tailored to both local needs and broader national standards.

The Trainer will regularly conduct in-venue audits to verify compliance with food and beverage standards, operational SOPs, and brand guidelines. The role calls for active floor leadership during peak service hours to monitor performance, contribute to guest recovery, and reinforce a culture of accountability and operational excellence. You will utilize key operational metrics such as COGS, Net Promoter Score (NPS), and training completion rates to assess effectiveness and develop targeted coaching strategies.

Collaboration is central to success in this position, requiring close partnerships with cross-functional teams across Operations, Culinary, and Training. You will have a direct hand in supporting new store openings and navigating periods of high operational risk, ensuring seamless transitions and upholding brand integrity. This role also includes supporting manager-in-training programs and contributing feedback to optimize hiring, onboarding, and retention efforts.

At Alamo Drafthouse Cinema, there is a strong emphasis on creating a supportive and enjoyable work environment. The company offers many unique benefits such as free movies and food, paid time off, competitive pay, flexible scheduling, and comprehensive medical, dental, vision, and voluntary benefits for both full-time and part-time employees. Alamo encourages team members to bring their authentic selves to work and take pride in delivering an exceptional guest experience in a fun and vibrant workplace.

The company’s core values - Do the Right Thing, Foster Community, Boldly Go, and Give a Sh!t - underpin everything they do. These values highlight the importance of integrity, respect for diversity, innovation, and a passionate commitment to excellence. Joining Alamo Drafthouse Cinema means becoming part of a unique culture that celebrates creativity while fostering personal and professional growth for all teammates.
