Job Description
Starbucks Coffee Company is a globally recognized leader in the retail coffee and coffeehouse industry, known for its commitment to quality, community, and customer experience. Founded in 1971, Starbucks has grown to become a beloved brand with thousands of stores worldwide, dedicated to inspiring and nurturing the human spirit – one person, one cup, and one neighborhood at a time. The company prides itself on fostering an inclusive and diverse workplace, where partners (employees) are empowered to grow, innovate, and contribute to the company’s mission and values.
The Regional Director role at Starbucks presents a unique opportunity for experienced retail leaders who are passionate about cultivating leadership and driving regional business growth. This position is not just about managing operations; it emphasizes developing impactful leaders and creating strong, diverse teams that engage deeply with their local communities and customers. As a Regional Director, you will be instrumental in shaping the strategic vision for the region, driving performance through a humane and performance-driven lens, and ensuring that every store within your area exemplifies Starbucks’ high standards of service and community engagement.
In this leadership role, you will be responsible for developing and executing detailed strategic and operational plans that align with Starbucks’ broader goals. You will lead a team of leaders, providing coaching, transparent feedback, and meaningful development opportunities to build high-performing teams. Your ability to inspire and model Starbucks’ values – collaboration, inclusiveness, leadership confidence, and teamwork – will be crucial in moving the business toward continued success. Your leadership style will bring these values to life, fostering a professional and respectful work environment that drives positive results.
The role entails managing significant financial responsibilities, including annual expenses ranging from $1 million to $5 million and annual sales between $51 million and $150 million. With direct reports between 11 and 15, the scope of this position demands strong organizational, planning, and project management skills. Effective communication and the ability to apply sound business principles in managing change and enhancing operational efficiencies are also key requirements.
Leadership competencies vital to this role include setting a compelling and aligned direction for your teams; demonstrating leadership courage by taking managed risks that drive the business forward; creating a productive and respectful work environment; building strong relationships to facilitate business results; and committing to continuous development both personally and for your teams. Organizational savvy and a relentless focus on measurable outcomes will differentiate a successful Regional Director.
Core competencies that underpin the role include an unyielding customer focus, delivering legendary service that exceeds expectations consistently; upholding ethics and integrity in all situations; maintaining composure and professionalism during challenging circumstances; embracing personal learning and adaptability in the face of ambiguity; making timely, well-informed decisions; demonstrating interpersonal savvy; and a results-oriented mindset committed to achieving and surpassing goals.
Starbucks Coffee Company is an equal opportunity employer and embraces diversity in the workplace. They are committed to providing reasonable accommodations to job applicants with disabilities, ensuring an inclusive hiring process for all qualified candidates.
