This position is for a CDL-A Driver role, where the driver is entrusted with a critical responsibility in the food supply chain. The average pay for this position ranges between $90,000 and $100,000, with a component pay structure and a $10,000 sign-on bonus available, subject to terms and conditions. The work schedule primarily involves regional routes with 1-3 day layovers and typically 4-5 working days per week, with shifts starting between 11 PM and 3 AM. The CDL-A Driver is integral to the timely and safe delivery of food and food-related products to various customers, following all Department of Transportation (DOT) rules and regulations. This job requires driving tractor trailers or straight trucks on intrastate, interstate, local, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, and overnight routes.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED or equivalent
  • Minimum 1 year of commercial driving experience
  • Valid CDL-A license
  • Must be at least 21 years old
  • Meet all applicable state licensing and certification requirements
  • Clear motor vehicle report for last 3 years
  • Successful completion of post offer drug test and criminal background check
  • Pass road test
  • Valid or able to obtain DOT health card
  • Physical ability to hand-lift and use equipment to move and stack freight ranging approximately 10 to 90 pounds

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma/GED or equivalent
  • 1 year commercial driving experience
  • Valid CDL-A license
  • Must be 21 or older
  • Meet all state licensing and/or certification requirements where applicable
  • Clean motor vehicle report (MVR) for past 3 years
  • Pass post offer drug test and criminal background check
  • Pass road test
  • Attain or have valid current DOT health card or able to secure new DOT health card
  • Able to hand-lift and utilize two-wheeler, lift gate and/or other equipment to move and/or stack product cases/freight of varying size and weight

Job Duties

  • Communicates and interacts with customers, vendors and co-workers professionally ensuring questions are answered accurately and in a timely manner
  • Functions as a team member within the department and organization as required and perform any duty assigned to best serve the company
  • Performs all required safety checks including pre/post trip inspections of tractor/truck and trailer according to Department of Transportation regulations
  • Reports all safety issues and/or repairs required
  • Follows all DOT regulations and company safe driving guidelines and policies
  • Immediately reports all safety hazards and inspects trailer for properly loaded and secured freight
  • Performs count check of items and checks customer invoices of products that have been loaded
  • Checks and completes in an accurate and legible fashion all required paperwork associated with freight
  • Moves tractor to the loading dock and attaches preloaded trailer as needed
  • Drives to and delivers customer orders according to predetermined route delivery schedule
  • Unloads products from the trailer and transports items into designated customer storage areas
  • Performs damage control checks on items, scans, and contacts supervisor about removing orders according to company policy
  • Verifies delivery of items with customer and obtains proper signatures
  • Collects money where required
  • Loads customer returns onto trailer and secures trailer doors
  • Ensures that tractor, trailer, and freight are appropriately locked and/or always secured
  • Unloads damaged goods and customer returns and brings them to driver check-in and completes necessary paperwork
  • Unloads all equipment, materials and removes trash from trailers as required
  • Completes daily record of hours of service and enters log in accordance with Federal DOT, state, and company requirements
  • Performs general housekeeping duties in tractor, loading dock area and keeps trailers clear and clean as required
  • Secures all equipment and completes all necessary paperwork at end of shift
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
