Performance Foodservice, a leading broadline distributor under Performance Food Group (PFG), plays a vital role in the American food distribution landscape. This position is for a CDL-A Driver based in Portland, OR, offering a regional route schedule with 4-5 working days per week and start times between 11PM and 3AM. The compensation structure includes an average pay ranging between $90,000 and $100,000 annually, complemented by a competitive benefits package starting from day one. Notably, eligible candidates can receive a sign-on bonus of $10,000, provided they meet the criteria. This opportunity emphasizes both safety and customer service as core components, requiring candidates to bring their driver’s license or medical card for a mandatory road test conducted at the Portland location on 19786 NE San Rafael Street each Wednesday from 10AM to 2PM.
The role of a CDL-A Driver is crucial to the end-to-end food supply chain, ensuring that food and related products are delivered safely, timely, and in excellent condition. Drivers serve as the company's ambassadors, building strong, lasting customer relationships. Responsibilities include operating tractor trailers or straight trucks under both intrastate and interstate conditions, adhering strictly to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, and performing comprehensive pre- and post-trip inspections. Drivers also manage secure loading, unloading, and documentation processes, while maintaining compliance with safety and service standards.

Job Requirements
- Must be 21 years of age
- Meet all state licensing and certification requirements
- Pass pre-employment drug test
- Meet PFG motor vehicle report requirements for past 3 years
- Meet PFG FMCSA clearinghouse requirements
- Pass road test
- Able to secure new DOT medical card
- Able to hand-lift and use two-wheeler, lift gate, and/or other equipment to move product cases generally ranging from 60 to 90 pounds
- Must be able to work assigned schedule
- English language proficiency is required
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- 6 months to 1 year commercial driving experience
- Experience in foodservice distribution industry
- Proficiency with onboard computers and electronic log systems such as PeopleNet
- Experience using hand-held point of delivery scanning systems (POD)
- Customer service-related work experience
- Ability to read, write and communicate in English
Job Duties
- Perform all required safety checks including pre/post trip inspections of tractor/truck and trailer according to DOT regulations
- Follow all DOT regulations and company safe driving guidelines and policies
- Inspect trailer for properly loaded and secured freight and complete accurate paperwork
- Ensure tractor, trailer and freight are secured at all times and unload damaged goods and customer returns
- Comply with daily record-keeping and hours of service requirements adhering to DOT, state and company policies
- Uphold overall safety standards and follow guidelines for proper handling of freight
- Perform other duties as assigned
