Job Description
Performance Foodservice is a leading broadline distributor operating under Performance Food Group (PFG), specializing in a wide range of foodservice products delivered to a diverse portfolio of local customers. Their clientele includes independent restaurants and hotels, healthcare institutions, schools, and quick-service eateries. Performance Foodservice distinguishes itself by not only supplying delicious food items but also by building meaningful, consultative relationships with customers. This is achieved through a talented team of sales representatives, chefs, consultants, and industry experts who work collaboratively to support customers in improving business operations, developing menus, choosing optimal products, and implementing strategic operational improvements. The company culture fosters a safe, inclusive, and highly rewarding work environment where teamwork, respect, and recognition are fundamental values. They also emphasize employee growth and provide competitive compensation and benefits.
This position offers a component pay structure with an average annual compensation ranging from $90,000 to $100,000, plus a sign-on bonus of $10,000 (terms apply) for eligible individuals who have not worked for any PFG-owned company within the previous six months. The work schedule typically involves regional routes with 1-3 day layovers, operating 4-5 days per week with start times between 11 PM and 3 AM.
The role of a CDL-A Driver is essential to the successful distribution of food and food-related products across intrastate and interstate routes. Drivers are responsible for safely operating tractor-trailers or straight trucks on local, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, overnight, and drive-and-drop routes. Timely and secure delivery ensures the customers' satisfaction and positions drivers as the primary representatives of Performance Foodservice in the field. The job demands strict adherence to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and company safety protocols to maintain service quality and regulatory compliance.
In this role, drivers engage directly with customers, vendors, and coworkers, fostering professional communication and positive interactions. A significant responsibility includes thorough safety inspections of vehicles and trailers before and after trips, reporting any issues or repairs needed immediately to ensure both personal safety and the safety of the freight. Operators must meticulously verify freight counts, inspect loading accuracy, and handle paperwork associated with each delivery to maintain accountability. Drivers perform loading and unloading duties, manage product storage at customer locations, and ensure secure handling of equipment, returns, or damaged goods.
CDL-A Drivers must maintain accurate logs of hours of service per federal, state, and company standards while keeping the work environment orderly. With a focus on supporting America’s essential food supply chain, this position offers growth opportunities within a vibrant company committed to its employees and customers alike. Performance Foodservice supports drivers with day-one health and wellness benefits, a robust employee stock purchase plan, 401K employer matching, education assistance, paid time off, and more, cultivating a rewarding and sustainable career path for those dedicated to excellence in delivery services.
