Performance Foodservice not only delivers high-quality food products but also offers valuable expertise and guidance to help independent restaurant owners and foodservice providers succeed and grow their businesses. Recognized for its commitment to inclusivity and equal employment opportunities, PFG is dedicated to fostering a workplace that values diversity and treats all employees and applicants equitably regardless of race, color, national origin, sex, marital status, pregnancy, sexual orientation, gender identity, religion, age, disability, genetic information, veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law.
The CDL-A Driver role at Performance Foodservice is a critical position within the company’s logistics and transportation operations. These drivers play an essential part in America’s food supply chain by ensuring that food and food-related products are delivered safely and on time to customers. Working primarily on regional routes with 1-3 day layovers and a typical schedule of 4-5 days per week starting between 11 PM and 3 AM, CDL-A Drivers complete routes using tractor trailers or straight trucks. The role involves performing thorough safety inspections of vehicles and trailers following Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, securing freight, and fully adhering to safety and operational standards throughout each delivery route. Drivers also handle paperwork associated with shipments, assist with loading and unloading as necessary, and maintain communication with customers, vendors, and team members in a professional manner to uphold the company’s high standards of customer service and safety.
The position comes with a competitive compensation package including a component pay structure with an average pay range between $90,000 to $100,000, a $10,000 sign-on bonus (subject to terms and conditions), and comprehensive benefits starting from day one. Benefits include health and wellness coverage, employee stock purchase plans, 401K with employer matching, education assistance, paid time off, and other incentives designed to support employee well-being and professional growth. New drivers receive five weeks of paid training in Portland to ensure they are well-prepared for the demands of the role.
This role is an excellent opportunity for experienced CDL-A drivers who seek a stable and rewarding career with a reputable food distribution company that values safety, teamwork, and career advancement. Individuals passionate about contributing to the company’s mission of delivering high-quality food products while building strong customer relationships will find this position highly fulfilling and impactful.
