The CDL-A Driver position is vital to the success of Performance Foodservice as it directly supports the nation’s food supply chain. Drivers in this role operate tractor trailers or straight trucks to deliver food and food-related products safely and efficiently across intrastate and interstate routes. These routes may include regional trips with 1 to 3 day layovers and involve a work schedule of 4-5 days per week with shifts beginning between 11 PM and 3 AM. The CDL-A Driver is the face of the company, responsible for building strong and lasting relationships with customers through professional communication and dependable delivery service. This role includes a component pay structure averaging between $90,000 and $100,000, and a sign-on bonus of $10,000 for eligible drivers who have not worked for any PFG-owned company in the past 24 months.

The responsibilities of the CDL-A Driver include performing all required safety checks on vehicles per Department of Transportation regulations, ensuring freight is properly loaded, secured, and delivered in good condition, and completing all necessary documentation. Drivers must comply with DOT regulations, maintain accurate hours of service records, and consistently uphold the company’s safety standards in handling products. Additional duties include unloading damaged goods or returns, maintaining cleanliness and organization of trailers, and working cohesively as part of the department team to deliver superior service at all times. A commitment to professional customer interaction is essential to succeed in this role.

This full-time position requires a commitment to safety, professionalism, and excellent customer service. It demands physical stamina to handle freight of varying weights and the ability to operate equipment such as lift gates and two-wheelers. The ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English is required. Drivers must meet stringent licensing and medical standards and pass various pre-employment checks including drug tests and road tests.
