The CDL-A Driver position at Performance Foodservice is a critical role within the company’s food supply chain operations. This job involves operating tractor trailers or straight trucks for intrastate and interstate deliveries, including over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, local, overnight, and drive-and-drop routes. Drivers fulfill essential responsibilities by ensuring food and food-related products are delivered safely, on time, and in excellent condition. As representatives of Performance Foodservice, CDL-A Drivers are the face of the company, interacting professionally with customers, vendors, and colleagues to strengthen relationships and support business success.

This position offers competitive pay ranging from $90,000 to $100,000 annually under a component pay structure. Drivers typically work 4 to 5 days per week with schedules starting between 11 PM and 3 AM. Regional routes may include 1 to 3-day layovers, adding variety and opportunity for travel. Additionally, a $10,000 sign-on bonus (terms apply) is offered to new drivers who have not been employed by a Performance Food Group company in the past 6 months.

Key responsibilities of the CDL-A Driver include performing pre- and post-trip safety inspections on vehicles and trailers to comply with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, accurately completing all required delivery paperwork, checking and verifying freight loads with customer invoices, securing freight safely, and handling any damaged goods or returns appropriately. Drivers must follow all DOT standards and company safety policies, maintain a clean and organized work environment, and reliably complete daily logs and paperwork for hours of service. Professionalism in customer and vendor interactions, as well as the ability to function as a team member within the department, are essential aspects of the role.

Applicants for this role must possess a valid CDL-A license, be at least 21 years old, have at least one year of commercial driving experience, and meet all state licensing requirements. A clean motor vehicle record for the past three years, successful completion of a post-offer drug test, background check, and road test are mandatory. Drivers must hold or be able to obtain a current DOT Health Card. Physical demands include the ability to hand-lift and use equipment such as two-wheelers and lift gates to handle freight weighing from 10 to 90 pounds depending on the location.
