Job Description
Performance Foodservice, a leading broadline distributor under the umbrella of Performance Food Group (PFG), excels in serving a wide range of local customers including independent restaurants, hotels, healthcare facilities, schools, and quick-service eateries. With a commitment to supporting America's food supply chain, the company prides itself on fostering close relationships with its clientele. A dedicated team comprising sales representatives, chefs, consultants, and other experts collaborates closely with customers to offer tailored advice on operational enhancement, menu development, product selection, and strategic planning. This holistic approach enables the company to not only deliver high-quality food products but also to empower independent restaurant owners and food service businesses to achieve their ambitions. PFG emphasizes safety, inclusion, and community, providing a rewarding and respectful workplace culture bolstered by competitive pay and comprehensive benefits.
The CDL-A Driver role at Performance Foodservice is crucial to maintaining the efficient and safe delivery of food and food-related products across regional routes, often involving 1-3 day layovers. This position typically involves working 4-5 days per week with shifts starting between 11 PM and 3 AM. Drivers are respected as the company’s face in the field, responsible for building strong and lasting customer relationships through their professionalism and dependability. The role demands compliance with Department of Transportation regulations, performing thorough vehicle inspections, ensuring the safe loading and unloading of shipments, and accurate completion of all delivery documentation. Drivers operate tractor trailers or straight trucks in intrastate, interstate, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, overnight, and drive-and-drop route environments, maintaining a high standard of safety and efficiency throughout.
Performance Foodservice supports its drivers with a $10,000 sign-on bonus incentive (subject to terms), a component pay structure averaging between $90,000 and $100,000 annually, and a broad spectrum of benefits including day-one health and wellness coverage, a 401K plan with employer matching, employee stock purchase options, education assistance, and paid time off. The company fosters growth opportunities and a culture centered on reward, recognition, and respect, ensuring that each driver operates in a safe and inclusive environment. The ideal candidate for this role will meet stringent qualifications and requirements, reflecting the company's dedication to professionalism and excellence in service. This position offers an outstanding opportunity for commercial drivers seeking to contribute meaningfully to the food distribution system while enjoying a supportive and stable employment setting.
