The company specializes in operating airport restaurants and retail outlets, catering to the unique needs of travelers and ensuring high standards of quality, service, and innovation in every location. The organization values diversity, inclusion, and a culture of empowerment where employees can bring their authentic selves to the workplace, contributing to the rich team environment.
The role of Regional Chef (Airport Restaurants) is a full-time, exempt position reporting to the Director of Operations within the Concepts and Standards department. This role offers a competitive annual salary range of $90,000 to $110,000. The Regional Chef is responsible for overseeing all aspects of kitchen operations across multiple airport restaurant locations. This dynamic leadership role requires a motivated, hands-on professional with a passion for delivering outstanding food and service. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of five years of culinary experience in high-volume restaurant environments, including at least three years in a managerial or head chef capacity.
In this capacity, the Regional Chef leads menu planning and execution, manages kitchen teams to ensure smooth daily operations, and maintains strict adherence to health, safety, and sanitation regulations including HACCP protocols. The position demands expertise in managing food and labor costs, overseeing inventory, training and developing kitchen staff, and driving culinary innovation by staying current with industry trends. The Regional Chef also plays an instrumental role in designing special events and promotions that enhance the brand's reputation and increase customer engagement.
This role requires excellent communication skills for effective conflict management and collaboration with cross-functional teams. Experience with European cuisine and wine knowledge are advantageous. The ideal candidate is personable, approachable, and demonstrates strong leadership and work ethic, fostering a positive and productive kitchen environment. Certification in Serve Safe and knowledge of HACCP regulations are essential. The position also demands physical capability to manage kitchen activities and the occasional lifting of supplies. The Regional Chef may be required to travel occasionally for new location openings, marketing updates, or meetings.
Areas offers comprehensive employee benefits including 401(k) and matching contributions, health, dental, and vision insurance, as well as food provisions during work hours. Employees are supported with ongoing professional development and are encouraged to participate in industry events and workshops. This in-person role demands a detail-oriented approach to inventory management, quality control, and compliance, ensuring the highest standards are consistently met across all airport restaurant locations. Areas is an equal opportunity employer dedicated to creating an inclusive workplace where every employee is valued and empowered to succeed.
